Dear folks, About two weeks ago, I adopted a Senegal. My friend in church was looking for the past couple of month to sell. But when I approach her and told her I was interested in her bird., she was happy to let me have him. His name is Bubba. I did a lot of research before I got him. He is just perfect. Being that I wanted to have another parrot in my small apt. This one is just perfect. Behaves well. Not so noisy. I have a G.C. Conure and he is fine. Happy is going to be Five this July. So, what I mean to get at is I had purchased a Quaker. Baby. He was very loud, and wouldn't get it to be quiet. So I gave him away to a fellow who really would take good care. So, the thing is that I believe that God but Bubba in my way for giving away the Quaker. I am so in love with Bubba, he talks. He is around four years old. In the morning when I go feed him and change the water, he says Hi Bubba, in a low voice. He also laughs, and he says meox. Like a cat. Lol.He likes to corner himself on the cage and rub his back up and down. What a clown. He letting me touch his head. Happy goes on my shoulder but I don't dare put them together till about six months down the line.I mean not in the cage, outside in the living room. Anyway I'm very glad that I did my homework on the Senie. He's the best. Because all my life I wanted a African bird, but just not right for small apt. Bubba is just right. So is my Happy bird. So, that is all for now. I don't have a camera. I hope I get one soon. So, I can send pictures to. So long!. |

Senegals are such neat little birds. But PLEASE don't put this one with your other bird, even outside a cage. They are very agressive with other birds. Mine is very sweet. But she has killed one lovebird, and ripped a large chunk out of the beak of another. Given the opportunity, she would take on my Amazon, without backing down. |

I have a Senegal and they are great, are at lest I think so. She is so sweet to me, she does not talk, and I wish she would, she is really a quite bird, she sings when it is breakfast or supper time, love to ride on my should, If I get to close to the cage, she will reach over and grab my shirt and up she comes to ride around the house, while I clean and wash dishes or what ever I do. She does not like my husband at all through, when we first got her she bit his nose when the dog jumb up in his lap, and he made the mistake of grabbing her, that has been about 4 years ago now and she has not forgot. They really have long memories. Good luck, you will really love her more as the time goes by. |

Bubba is now settling in. Every morning she says "Hi Bubba". But now she is like territorial. When I place some carrots and pears she tries to bite. And she succeeded. Very hard on my right index finger. It was trobbing. Man, I never felt such a pain! So, I guess I will now have to dedicate some out time with her. Soon. When I find time. There is like no time left. For me time is going by fast. I love her very much. I wish I can handle her and her hug her. She probaly does not know what she is missing. Oh, well got to go now. Liz |
