I have one that is not quite a year yet and he mouths words with no sound coming out.He has a pretty whistle though and is a one person bird. Only I can pick him up and my daughter even helped hand feed him but now she cannot even pick him up.They can speak but it doesn't matter to me if he does or doesn't.

I had 2--now I have one and my daughter has one--The one I have is a male--imported --was a breeder for 13 years--has never really said anything but has recently taken to imitating a cockatoo.  Sparky--the female my daughter has says Sparky--but in may different intonations so that after living with her awhile we got to know what she meant--and now that she is living in a single bird house she is imitating EVERYTHING--her new one after the 4th of July is a perfect bottle rocket. They both laugh like maniacs.           Katz

I have had a Senegal "Cricket" since November last year. She was 4 years old went we got her. She does not talk, well that you can understand anyway. She chatters a lot and sings, but nothering I can understand. But she is one busy little bird, she loves to just set on my shoulder while I am doing any thing, like right now she is setting on my shoulder and talking to me, just little cherps, and giving me kisses.  Hope you enjoy yours as much as we enjoy "Cricket". Have fun. We also have a LSC-Cockatoo,. Sugarsmom2515

Hi Mitered

We own 2 Senegals who are clutch mates, both males. They both started talking at about 1 years old. One has always been the first to speak then the other one seems to learn it from him. They say, Peek a Boo, Hi, Good Morning (in the morning, only), Ni Ni (at night), the good talker also says Hi Baby, Want some num nums (when I give him a treat), See you later alegator. They have such a little granny voice it is sooo cute. They also scream a lot.

I was wondering about the sounds Giget makes.  Sometimes I think he is saying Pretty Bird and Giget.(skiget)  But it is nothing like the Amazon speaking.  It is more like screeches made into words.  He is trying to do the wolf whistle also.  It is very solf.  Giget isn't a very loud bird, but does chatter a lot.
Another thing he does is:  When I take him out of the cage, he pulls at his beak with his foot like something is in his mouth.  Also scrunches down like the "Hulk" and does some strange bobbing and turning movements.  I have about decided he is really a male and he is showing his affection for me.  So far he hasn't thrown up on me, but that is what he looks like he is tryng to do.  Anyone else have this going on?
I have enjoyed him, just cannot leave him out much because of his size I worry about the cat.  I know the Amazon can take care of her self.
Judy
