Is that something mrs. white said or taught? if so, she was not of God. she hated the true worship as most churches today do. but here is what God had to say about this: Isa 1:13 Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting. Isa 1:14 Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them. Ho 2:11 I will also cause all her mirth to cease, her feast days, her new moons, and her sabbaths, and all her solemn feasts. Am 5:21 I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies. [now that is strong words against a solemn meeting.] Am 5:22 Though ye offer me burnt offerings and your meat offerings, I will not accept them: neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts. Am 5:23 Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy viols. Am 5:24 But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream. Am 5:25 Have ye offered unto me sacrifices and offerings in the wilderness forty years, O house of Israel? Am 5:26 But ye have borne the tabernacle of your Moloch and Chiun your images, the star of your god, which ye made to yourselves. Am 5:27 Therefore will I cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus, saith the LORD, whose name is The God of hosts |

Ps 66:1 To the chief Musician, A Song or Psalm. Make a JOYFUL NOISE unto God, all ye lands: Ps 81:1 To the chief Musician upon Gittith, A Psalm of Asaph. Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a JOYFUL NOISE unto the God of Jacob. Ps 95:1 O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a JOYFUL NOISE to the rock of our salvation. Ps 95:2 Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a JOYFUL NOISE unto him with psalms. Ps 98:4 Make a JOYFUL NOISE unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise. Ps 98:6 With trumpets and sound of cornet make a JOYFUL NOISE before the LORD, the King. Ps 100:1 A Psalm of praise. Make a JOYFUL NOISE unto the LORD, all ye lands. Seems from the above that she did not agree with Psalms. Maybe she never heard of it? Does anyone know of a scripture backing up this SILENT worship or prayer? A moment of silence? Where is that found? God will some day be silent to all who hold this view and are ashamed to worship him is a loud voice as Jesus prayed. The old Israelites, whom ‘they?want to follow in law, sometimes made such a loud noise praising God that they were heard for miles, and the people wondered what was going on. |

No wonder all these kinds of churches are dead. I grew up in a Baptist church which frowned upon any and all outward signs of 'enjoying' God or praising him. Thank you, Bro Larry for that great message. I am sure all these 'solemn' folks, saying their 'moment of silent' prayer, would be very unhappy and uncomfortable, if they did make it to heaven, where the saints of all the ages will be shouting and making a loud, joyful NOISE to our great God. Notice, God said he HATES AND DESPISES those dead, solemn meetings. He even hates the sounds of their 'songs'. know why? there is no joy nor lifting up of praise...only a dead, monotous tone, fit for funerals. guess that is the problem,....they are at their spiritual funeral. btw, my first cousin, the only one on Daddy's side, died this morning. He was an adventist, so was his mother. We used to discuss this stuff a lot. He adhered to their ban on meats, but still had two heart-attacks this morning and died. |
