Hi can you tell me how I can get the ears to stand with out clipping?? I can't find anyone in this area who clips them. I live in Niles, MI. I thought someone said they tape their pups ears until they stand.

I was told that there are minpins whose ears naturally stand up and those that need clipped to stand up.  My babies don't have stand up ears but are precious just the same.  My daughter submitted her baby to clipping her ears and they are just beautiful, but I wouldn't do that to my babies.  A lot of vets are stepping away from that due to the feeling that it is cruel.  That is my stand, too.  I don't know about the taping thing to make them stand up, but again I wouldn't use something that would make my babies uncomfortable so I don't know about it.  Good luck with that and let us know what happens.

I have two pins, one with natural standing ears and one with what I call the floppy ears. (although he does make them stand up once in a while)  I love them both ways.  You might look back on some of the previous messages as I know someone was asking about it then - a few month ago.

Just be glad they have ears. Think I told before of the horrible sight I saw in the university vet college waiting room. A couple ladies had a minpin they'd rescued. Someone had cut it's ears off. Suppose it was a sadistic owner. Had to be. They should be rotting in prison.

I have no idea if taping them would help them stand up or not but I have decided that if I ever get a MinPin puppy I will not have its ears cut. Thor's ears are nicely done but poor Sullivan has what we call "cats ears". They kinda look funny until you get used to them. I also know there is another little fella on this board whose ears were practically mutilated (Brody) so I think natural is the best way.

I am glad that they have ears but I would like to be able to refer people in this area to a good one. And most of the people here have heard of someone good or someone to stay away from.
