MY FIRST MIN PIN:

MY FIRST MIN PIN:
What kind of creature causes a young woman to spend all of her cash (and then some!), on something other than the clothes she had planned to buy for a very important business trip?

Why, a Miniature Pinscher puppy, of course!

My twin sister and I had traveled to a larger city's shopping mall in persuit of a BIG SHOPPING day.  When we first arrived, she told me she had to run a quick errand and could I wait there until she got back.

"Sure,"I told her,"I'll just wait for you here at this nearby shop, while you take a few minutes to do that."

I didn't mind waiting at a pet shop, I've always enjoyed animals. I went inside to take a look at what kind of creatures they had.

Once inside, I found  one of the shop's employees with a very tiny and cute bundle of joy in her arms.  It was the most adorable puppy, dark and sleek.  And he was full of spirit!

I wondered what kind of dog he was. I did not recognize the breed.  "It's a Miniature Pinscher", the woman told me, as she transferred him into my arms.

The instant I held him, we were in love.  I felt the bond between us and I knew that we were meant to be together.

"Can I hold him?", "Can I have him for a minute?", "Let me see him, too", the other customers clamored.  But the saleslady turned down their requests and waved them away.  She knew LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT when she saw it.

That was twenty years ago, when I fell in love with my first Miniature Pinscher and took him home. Now I own four, and one of them is the great-granddaughter of my very first Min Pin, BENJI'S CHASE MANHATTEN.

Benji and Chase together: He was still a puppy.

Chase always had a great sense of style and presence.  He had that beautiful hackney gait that is attributed to the Miniature Pinscher breed.
He also had that "Min Pin attitude", carrying himself with an air of importance, and strutting along with a strength of purpose.  (Which, could seem almost comical, at times, when noting his small size)!

FASHION SENSE:  I'll never forget the day that Chase paraded gracefully down the stairs of our apartment, as if a top fashion model, wearing this "fauxe fur wrap" that he designed himself.  He chewed it out of an old slipper that I had given him.

Chase takes a break, after playing with his toy.

MIN PIN R&R:
Like most Min Pins, Chance enjoyed a good session of rest and relaxation.  And, yes, he did like to sleep under covers, another Min Pin preference!

  ARTISTIC MEMORY:
Here is some of my artwork, a picture I made to look as if it might be Chase's Pedigree or AKC registration papers.

My first Miniature Pinscher, Benji's Chase Manhatten, was a wonderful representative of the Miniature Pinscher breed.  He was most loving, intelligent, and even compassionate.  ,,,Loyal and obedient, but feisty, as well! ...and he had a wonderful sense of humor.

He was handsome and debonaire, his perfect and neat coat of black with tan markings made it appear as if he was wearing an expensive suit. To watch him move was like poetry in motion.  When ever I took Chase out, where ever we went, people oohed and ahhed over him.

While vacationing, I took him to Venice Beach in California.  We strolled along the main walkway, dazzled by all the sights and sounds. It was almost circus-like, so much was going on at once and no one taking much notice.

Men roller-skated by, strumming on guitars, while scantily-clad women watched the muscle-bound men that worked out with weights at the beach's edge.  The main walkway was lined with open-air markets, selling all kinds of wares, while a Rostefarian band played in the open cafe at the end.  Street musicians, magicians, jugglers, and mimes...Nothing seemed to impress the crowd and no one batted an eye.

But Chase turned everyone's head. "Look at the little doberman!", "Look at the little doberman!". I heard a wave of exclamations run through the crowd.  Throngs of people stopped to ask about him, and many wanted to buy him right off the end of my leash!

But, no one could have been more impressed by my little Miniature Pinscher than myself. My first Min Pin, Chase, gave me the desire and inspiration to aquire more Miniature Pinschers, as well as, to breed them, so others might enjoy the same joy and companionship.
