I will post all updates on this thread so I don't take up too much space.  Delilah is doing ok.  She is eating, drinking and sleeping.  Definitely better than when I took her into the vet.  I just got her out of her cage because she was whining and she ran around the living room for a couple minutes.  It was great to see her that energetic however it doesn't last long before a nap is required.  For now she is home and doing good and we continue to cherish everyday together.

Boy was she ready for her food this morning.  I called the vet and he said no more eggs however the boiled potato was fine.  So tonight I came home and mixed her k/d canned and boiled potato and of course she ate her way around the k/d and ate mainly the potato - we are talking a 1/4 of potato max just enough to mix into the canned and give a little flavor - the vet is supposed to gather some homemade recipes for me when I go in for more bloodwork I will get them.  She was a little more perky especially at feeding time and to go outside which is good.  I just am not used to handling a special needs dog and now realize she will have her up and down days.  My DH did say she spent all day in her cage and I now know why.  Delilah has this thing that she always wants to be under a blanket.  She has been like that since the day we brought her home.  DH put up all the blankets off the couches today and I came home she was under the blankets in her cage.  Of course mom saved the day and got "our" blanket on the couch and we have been cuddling ever since.  DH got a butt chewing to leave the blankets alone as this is now Delilah's Dream Domain...lol  He will leave the blanket out for now on.  Keep those fingers, toes and all paws crossed as we continue to cherish everyday together.

Delilah is doing well today.  She is running around and being her spunky little self.  She has eaten very well today.  Another good day and gearing up to be a great night of cuddling.  Keep those fingers, toes and all paws crossed for my baby girl.

Delilah is continuing to do well.  She is eating like a horse now seems I cannot get her food ready fast enough.  Just a little bit ago she also took it upon herself to clean the litter box...Keep those fingers toes and all paws crossed.

***Correction she was not cleaning the litter box she was sneaking cat food.***  Needless to say the cat food is now put up until Delilah is in her cage.  She is sure keeping me on my toes.  Keep those fingers, toes and all paws crossed.

Honey I can't afford that , on the dobie a bag of fluids every other day cost me 7.00 [ now it's 12.00 ]  I did myself.  It started out 1X's aday, then once , every other , to once a week.
The Lepto shot is what cause my dobies renal failure.

I called a vet this week and asked if they had Lepto in the distemper shot and she said yes, so I won't be taking any dogs there for their shots. She said it was just a rumor that Lepto harms some dogs...I don't believe her for a moment.

Well honey , I know of 3 vets in my area that WON'T give Lepto ~~ they say NOT IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE DOG !!!
I had a puppy code after getting the shot [ within a sec ] total ~ so tell your vet she is full of BS !!

My vet said he does not give the lepto vaccine to certain breeds of dogs and definitely not to pins. He rec's that for my pins only one shot at a visit. He gives one at the annual checkup and then the next week I bring them back for another, etc. For the other shots one of the girls just takes the dog back and I do not see the vet....that way I only get charged for the shot and not for a "visit". We've been doing this since 1998. I only live a couple of miles from the clinic so it's convenient.

I do not get on here that often as working and trying to get ahead with everything, computer is not a main thing anymore BUT I have been reading about your poor baby and what is goin on...I noticed you talked about LEPTO..

gabby, thank god, has now turned 7 and it was 6 yrs ago we thought she would never survive..she had been given LEPTO and it cause her internal bleeding and she almost died...the vet bills were $$$$$ AND WE REALLY WERE TALKING ABOUT HAVING TO PUT HER DOWN...we kept up the visits and listened to the 'new' vet and  her advice and we got her thru it, and she now is healthy and is 7 yrs old. ... but yes, LEPTO is not a good thing and when we transferred her to the new vet they talked about they NEVER give LEPTO to minpins and inm fact, they refuse to use lepto so that is good....

so glad to hear the baby is doing better...ONE DAY AT A TIME..

love to you and your family...

Well Delilah is doing okay.  Here in the last week she has had a couple bad moments.  I have a call into the vet as I am unsure what is going on.  She is still eating great and acting pretty good but the other night I went outside to get the pizza and when I came back in her hind end had completely collapsed and she was frantic trying to get back up and couldn't.  I threw the pizza down went and got her up and she starting to poop I think because she was so scared.  After that she was fine till today I let her outside and she went sideways and again her hind end collapsed.  She just lay there and I went and picked her up and she went back to running around.  I have never seen anything like this before and it is scaring me to death.  I will let you all know what the vet says.
Keep those fingers, toes and all paws crossed!

WELL, SEEMS i HAVE BEEN THRU ALOT OF DIFFERENT THINGS WHEN IT COMES TO THE FURBABIES...SO LET ME MAKE A COMMENT ABOUT WHAT I THINK HAS CAUSED THE LAST PROBLEM THAT YOU HAVE HAD WITH YOUR FURBABY..SORRY FOR WRIITING IN CAPS...ARTHRITIS ACTING UP AND FINGERS HURT REALLY REALLY BAD...

WHEN GUS WAS ABOUT ONE YEAR OR SO AND WE HAD NOT GOTTEN GABBY YET, WE CAME HOME FROM WORK AND HE ACTED WEIRD..HE WOULD NOT GET UP AND WHEN WE DID GET HIM UP, IT WAS AS IF HE COULD NOT STAND ON HIS HIND LEGS..HE WAS CRYING WITH PAIN AND WOULD TRY WALKING AND HIS LEGS WOULD GO DOWN AND IT WAS HAS IF HE WAS HAVING PAIN IN THE HIND QUARTERS..WE TOOK HIM TO THE  VET AS IT WAS AFTER 6 BUT THEY WAITED FOR US...GUS CRIED AND WE WERE SURE THAT HE WOULD DIE..IT WAS SAD AND BOTH HUBBIE AND I WERE SURE THIS WAS ''  IT '' FOR GUS...NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT...THEY TOOK HIM RIGHT BACK AND YOU WILL NEVER GUESS WHAT IT WAS...HIS ONE ANAL GLAND WAS SO FILLED THAT IT WAS VERY PAINFUL AND ALL HE NEEDED WAS TO HAVE IT EMPTIED..THE VET DID THAT AND HE WAS FINE AFTER THAT....REALLY NOT FUNNY BUT WHEN THE VET EMPTIED IT, THE ' GUNK ' WENT ALL OVER HIM AND OVER HIS SHOULDER AND ALL OVER HIS COMPUTER KEYBOARD....WE TRIED NOT TO LAUGH BUT IT WAS FUNNNY BUT IT ALSO SHOWED HOW PAINFUL IT GETS EHN THE GLANDS DO NOT EMPTY..THEY NORMALLY DO THAT WHEN THE DOG HAS A BOWEL MOVEMENT AND IF THE FOOD THEY EAT IS SOFT, THE BM'S ARE NOT THAT HARD SO THE GLANDS HAVE TROUBLE BEING PRESSED WITH THE STOOL AND THEY DO NOT EMPTY, DOES THAT MAKE SENSE?  ANYWAY, THE VET TALKED TO US AND SAID THAT GUS MAY HAVE THIS ISSUE ALL THE TIME WITH THIS ONE GLAND SO HUBBIE LEARNED HOW TO EMPTY THEM HIMSELF AS EVERY TWO WEEKS COSTING $15 ADDS UP SO WE DO IT HERE AT HOME....

IT IS EASY TO DO AND DOES NTO HURT THE DOG..IT SEEMS GROSS BUT IT NEEDS TO BE DONE..AND WHEN GUS GETS TO THE POINT THAT HE IS STARTING TO WHINE A BIT WHEN HE STARTS TO SIT DOWN AND HE WILL WALK AND THEN SIT DOWN REALLY FAST AND THEN EVEN START TO 'SCOOT', WE KNOW THAT IT IS TIME TO EMPTY THEM, SO HUBBIE DOES IT.

GUS AND GABBY BOTH EAT DRY FOOD BUT GUS SEEMS TO STILL HAVE THIS PROBLEM...THE VET SAID THAT MAYBE WE WILL REACH A POINT THAT WE NEED TO HAVE THE GLANDS TAKEN OUT BUT THERE IS A CHANCE IF THAT IS DONE, THE HE WILL HAVE TROUBLE HOLDING HIS 'POOP' SO WE DECIDED TO DO THIS..AS THAT DOES NOT SOUND GOOD AT ALL...AND IF IT MEANS US EMPTYING HIS GLANDS SO HE DOES NOT HAVE PAIN, THEN IT IS WORTH IT TO US...

HOPE THIS HELPS..LET ME KNOW...
