Hi I am new to this sight ,and a first time min-pin owner!!! Boy what a handful Dusty (my min-pin) has been!!!!!!!! He has been spoiled because he broke his front legs shortly after I got him!!! He chased my cat up over the chair on to the side board and fell off!!! That was August12 of this year!!! After surgury, a 5 day stay at the vets, and alot of recoperation he is well on his way to a good recovery. His right leg may require another operation as he still can't use it!! we have a vet appointment next week to see what the problem maybe. During all of this recoperation time Dusty has learned all of the bad habits min-pins shouldn't learn!!! He successfully begs food from the other members of the house! He thinks he can go potty anywhere he wants!!He was babied after his accident because we felt sorry for him!! now We(the family) suffers from a min-pin who truely runs the house!!! Any helpful advice would be greatly apprecaited!!! My son and boyfriend want to get rid of him. I say no as he was my birthday present from them!!! Thanks!!! Val N |

I am so sorry you have gone through the fire so to speak with your first minpin. IT's hard not to let them up on the furniture when they are babies. I always try to tell new owners the dangers involved. Broken bones being my main concern. With them still growing they have additional complications with the growth plates. I'm glad you've found us. Some of my minpins havn't been completely housebroken til well over 8 months and still have accidents occasionally, because of the winters here. Ack!! Here are some sites you might be interested in, its called NILF = Nothing IN Life is Free Remember, your the boss, not the dog, and you have to get your boyfriend and son on board with the program Good luck and |

It'll all work out. Minpins take forever to housebreak and we all spoil them (I hope). If you have a cat maybe you could buy another litterbox for him. My minpin got the idea of going in the cat litter box all on his own after watching my cats use it! So I bought him his own box and fill it with cat litter. He just urinates in it, does the other outside. They can be difficult, you just have to work with them. They do rule the house! That was a horrible accident he had!!! Must have made you sick. I'd fold up if mine broke both front legs. I hope you get good news about the leg he isn't using. You'd have to baby and spoil him in that condition. Hope everything works out. |

He IS SMART!!!!!! Lol i don't think he would have too much of a problem!!!!!! He has to have his right leg amputated!!! when his elbow fused together it cut offf all of his nervers and is slowly cutting off alll the blood supply!!!! |
