Hi there!
I am absolutely delighted to find this group! Min Pins have been my constant companions since I "rescued" one from a shelter many, many years ago. He had been a little throw away and the kind lady at the shelter had nursed him back to health. (Long story made short; I got him for someone else, but fell in love with him on the way there.) We were together more than 15 years. He was over 17 years old when he died.
My next Min Pin was a prissy little lady that I called Duchess. She was incredibly intelligent and "retired" from the showring because her owners couldn't stand her constant "serenades" when they were traveling from show to show in their RV.
What a sweetheart she was! I thought that there could be no replacement for her -- ever. I had her about 12 years.
My current little lady is named Sindy. She has been my companion for more than 10 years. She is also a retired showdog. The reason she was retired was because she hated the showring. She would show beautifully at home or in the practice ring, but when she got to the the real thing, she would simply lay down and refuse to show. Her previous owner then wanted to breed her. She had one pup and didn't want to have anything to do with it. This was the same breeder that I had obtained Duchess from and she called and told me to come look at her and if I was interested, we'd work something out. I did and I was! She handed her to me and that was it. No way was I giving her back! I would have given almost any price for her, but the breeder told me to just take her. She said she knew that the little dog would have a good home with me. With the exception of a couple of times when I was in the hospital she has been constantly by my side.
My husband says I wouldn't look normal without a Min Pin "attached" to me and I suppose he's correct. They have been so much a part of me for so long that I would find it extremely difficult to live without one. I hope to have at least one of them with me forever.
