  • Provide chatter safety by maintaining order, responding to emergencies, protecting people , enforcing chatroom rules, and promoting good community relations.

    Identify, pursue,  suspects and perpetrators of criminal acts or general harrasment.

    Record facts to prepare reports that document incidents and activities.

    Review facts of incidents to determine if criminal act or other chatroom violations were involved.

    Collect & present evidence or act as witness in chatroom / criminal cases.

    Evaluate complaint and emergency-request information to determine response requirements.

    Patrol specific rooms &  responding promptly to calls for assistance.

  •  Monitor, note, report, and investigate suspicious persons and situations,  and unusual or illegal activity in patrol area.

    Investigate incidents & calls to  determine cause and to determine if  chatroom violations have been committed.

    Get names of all chatters in room and interview victims and eyewitnesses.

    Monitor traffic in room to ensure chatters observe chatroom regulations and exhibit proper behavior. 

    Relay complaint and emergency-request information to appropriate senior staff officers & patrol supervisors at once.

    Identify yourself as a chatroom patrol officer & give verbal warnings to violators of chatroom rules.

    SENIOR STAFF shall direct patrol officers in case of emergencies.

    Inform chatters of chatcops services and recommend options to facilitate longer-term problem resolution.

    Provide information to assist chatters.

    Process, prepare and maintain records of chatroom incident(s).

    Patrol assigned chatrooms to ensure compliance with rules and regulations.NEVER patrol outside your designated area w/o consulting senior staff or a your patrol supervisor.



 

Required Knowledge for:  Chatroom Patrol Officers

Rules and Regulations -- Knowledge of chatroom patrol  procedures, precedents,regulations, executive orders, chatcop rules..

Chatroom Safety and Security -- Knowledge of relevant  policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective patrol & security operations for the protection of people & chatroom enjoyment. 

English Language -- Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

Education and Training -- Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for officers and groups, and the measurement of training effects.

SENIOR STAFF - Knowledge of chatcop  management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation,  leadership technique,  methods, and coordination of officers and resources.


Skills Required for:   Chatroom  Patrol Officers

Judgment and Decision Making -- Considering the relative  benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.

Active Listening -- Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

Critical Thinking -- Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

Writing -- Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the victim(s).

Speaking -- Talking to others to convey information effectively.

Social Perceptiveness -- Being aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do.

Reading Comprehension -- Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.

Negotiation -- Bringing others together and trying to reconcile differences.

Persuasion -- Persuading others to change their minds or behavior.

Abilities Required for:   Chatroom  Patrol Officers

Inductive Reasoning -- The ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).

Oral Comprehension -- The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.

Oral Expression -- The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.

Near Vision -- The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).

Speech Clarity -- The ability to speak clearly so others can understand you.

Problem Sensitivity -- The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.

Far Vision -- The ability to see details at a distance.

Speech Recognition -- The ability to identify and understand the speech of another person.

Deductive Reasoning -- The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.

Reaction Time -- The ability to quickly respond to a call for an officer when dispatched to a chatroom.


Job Activities for:   CHATROOM Patrol Officers

Getting Information -- Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.

Performing for or Working Directly with the chatters -- Performing security for people & dealing directly with the suspect/victim . 

Resolving Conflicts and Negotiating with Others -- Handling complaints, settling disputes, and resolving grievances and conflicts, or otherwise negotiating with others.

Identifying Objects, Actions, and Events -- Identifying information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events.

Making Decisions and Solving Problems -- Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.

Communicating with Supervisors  -- Providing information to supervisors, and patrol officers by messenger, in written form, e-mail. 

Communicating with Persons Outside Chatcops -- Communicating with people outside of Chatcops, representing Chatcops to chatters. This information can be exchanged in messenger or e-mail.

Evaluating Information to Determine Compliance with Standards -- Using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with  regulations, or  chatroom standards.

Documenting/Recording Information -- Entering, or maintaining information in written or electronic form.
