My grandpa died this afternoon he wa 88. He was more a dad to me through out all my life. When my dad wasn't there and a mom that moved in and out of my grandparents house my grandma and grandpa took me in and gave me a stable life from 14 and until I went in to the service. He taught me everything there was to do on a house there isn't nothing I haven't touched in the process of building a house. He was a plumber and when I said I was really wanting to become one like him. He helped me get into it. I worked in a plumbing shop for about 9 months before I went into the Navy where I was a pipefitter. When I got out of service I went right back and worked my way into the plumbers union wher  retired last year from. He moved back close to me for 9 years and was over every week end for dinner and holidays. So the loss to me is greatter than understandable. He was more than a grandpa to me. I hope I can be half the grandpa to my grandkids as He. Thank you for listening I just felt like I needed to tell you of a wonderful man who left this world today. nd I loved him very much.

Rick

Dear Rick...I am so very sorry for the loss of your dear Grandpa.  It sounds like he was really a great guy, and I know that his passing has left a huge hole in your heart and in your life.  One one hand, I know this is a very sad time for you, but, on the other hand, you were very fortunate to have had him in your life for so many years. I am sure that he taught you well.  I never knew either of my grandpas.  They both died before I was born.  He must have been a real blessing for you.  And, I am sure he felt the same way about you.
I am sure that you will make sure your new grandson knows his great-grandpa through stories told by his grandpa Rick.
Please know that we are here for you.

Love and hugs....Rean

I'm sorry for your loss, Rick.

He sounds like he was a great man.  For you to have described him as such, you're already on your way to being just like him!

Take care!

Nancy
