- Suicide/Crisis US/National Call for Comfort - Call To Survive~~Don't Wait - Don't Hesitate Call Someone Now Call 1-800-SUICIDE / 1-800-784-2433 Sometimes it's hard to admit that we need other people. Sometimes depression & suicidal thoughts contain a component of upset & anger towards the world & the people in it. But the truth is, nothing can really substitute for human contact - we do need people. The truth is, just talking to someone, explaining, sharing, venting, being listened to, can often give us a temporary reprieve. Talking to someone can temporarily change your perspective - Human contact changes the brain chemistry & opens that emotion "pod" of pent up emotions for temporary relief - and it may not be what they say, but just the exchange of emotions like empathy, compassion, & concern. http://www.suicidehotlines.com/ In the UK Samaritans 0845 7909090 In Austraila Lifeline on 13 11 14 Suicide Help Online Befrienders International Online - Confidential E-Mail Listening :- [email protected] Anonymous Confidential E-Mail Listening :[email protected] Befrienders International is a registered charity, developing volunteer action to prevent in 41 countries worldwide and providing information on the Internet. Blended Familiy Bliss.com - The loss of a step-child is very similiar to the loss of a a natural child. The grief process is similiar and can be just as intense depending on the nature of the relationship the step-parent had with the child. The other issues to cope with include helping the natural parent to grieve their loss. I do not know of specific resources for stepparents who have lost a stepchild but would recommend that obtaining books or informaition on loosing a child would be appropriate.
