“Where were you?” (A letter to a grieving wife from her grieving husband)
You say “Where were you?” I don’t know what to say My pain is locked so deep inside Remembering the day
You say “Where were you?” As if the words should sting I can’t find the tears inside To the top I can then bring
You say “Where were you?” With an angry stare All I can shoot back Is an empty painful glare
You say “Where were you?” Like I haven’t been here You don’t see that in the corner I sit crying lonely tears
You say “Where were you?” I have some words to say I‘ve been grieving the loss Of our child too with much dismay
You say “Where were you?” The only answer I can give From a very broken heart Through my tears I cry is
“Where were you?”
