Walk at Night

I took a walk the other night...
when all the town was sleeping...
My thoughts were mine...I own them all...
tucked in my heart for keeping.

I think of what the day has held...
about the night to come...
of tomorrow and the future...
and times forever done.

The family God has blessed me with...
the strength of family ties...
through births of brand new little ones...
and sharing sad goodbyes.

People I've met along the way...
so many...young and old...
to different degrees...they've touched my heart...
what stories to be told.

Counting blessings...under the stars...
remembering hard times too...
feeling the breeze...breathing it deep...
finding calmness in what I do.

The presence of God...so clear to me...
forever felt inside...
To look at my family...or in the eyes of a friend...
and know where love abides.

And so I take a walk at night...
reflective and alone...
talking to God...and giving thanks...
for family, friends and home.
