A Falling Away (Part 2) Written about 1 year ago (May2007) by Aalie I personally believe we are seeing a falling away from the faith that once was delivered to us.
This country (USA) was established through Christian principles. The Bible at one time was the main text-book schools used. Today the Bible is not allowed and God and prayers has been kicked out. The Ten Commandments are now not allowed in many governmental buildings any longer and prayer in Jesus name have also been disallowed. Don't tell me there is not a falling away from the faith today!
This month January 2007, a first happened that has never happened before when a Muslim congressman was elected and sworn in to office on the Koran instead of the Holy Bible. There have been Mormons elected yet they did not take the oath on the Book of Mormons, also Scientologists were not sworn in on the book of Dianetics. Don't tell me there is not a falling away from the faith in our country today.
Today we see Christian church ministers falling away. We see them rise first and be promoted to increasingly large mega churches. They seemingly are very successful and have a large following. They are writing books and making tapes and making them available world wide. Some of them are swimming in a lot of money made off of their books and tapes and their evangelistic outreaches. That means their messages that are being preached are well received, liked and probably enjoyed by their following. I just wonder if many are tickling the ears of their congregations, telling them things they want to hear. Some will speak with "forked tongues" deceiving their followers. Saying one thing from the pulpit, but their actions or non-actions speak an entirely different message, off the pulpit. We can be sure our sins will find us out. Some will go from house to house gathering information about their members, like a busy body in other peoples affairs, who seemingly have nothing better to do. It would be good if they would devote themselves in some very hard labor, because they have way too much time on their hands.
Another thing I see about the falling away from the faith - is that I see church leaders compromising. What they once believed and taught are not being taught in may churches today. They are accepting gays into the pulpits- where at one time they preached against this sin. Some nominal church leaders are even accepting the abortion, divorce issues, and the stem cell research issue from aborted babies. There are more divorces happening in the church of today than there are in the world. This should put the Christian church to shame. We have as many of our young people having babies out of wedlock, as the world has. Or our children think nothing of it today to be living together without being married.
The problem I see is that too many ministers are preaching a social, feel good gospel, and they may get people to come to church this way, but they are leading their flock little by little down the path of falling from the faith that was once delivered to them. We see the weekly bingo games, the card parties, weekly movie nights, and the pleasure seekers are flocking to these events. Sure the church is growing in number.. but they are headed to destruction. Don't get me wrong, I see nothing wrong with an innocent bingo or card game that does not involve gambling, nor a good clean family movie. But to use these events to get more people into the church, is falling from the faith that was once delivered to us. In fact the Bible talks about many of the things I have pointed out already and other things that will happen in the last days.
