A Falling Away (Part 5) (Written by Aalie- 2007)
Continuing on now in 2 Tim 3 and the perilous times we are living in today and also the perilous men which are in these last days.
2Tim. 3:3 says that men will be unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self control, brutal, despisors of good.
Unloving... in the last days people will be unloving. I would say unloving is opposite to loving. Therefore people will not show love or caring to others. Its not too difficult today to show love to those who love you, it takes a special person to show love to someone who is unloving to them. I believe most of these characteristics like... unloving... are people who do not have Christ in their hearts.. how can a real Christian be unloving?
Unforgiving... in the last days people will be unforgiving. They will not want to forgive, a Christian will want to forgive because Christ has for given us and therefore we will want to forgive others also. Well we also have to in order to be forgiven ourselves. But the unbelieving see no need to forgive and will make it difficult for others.
Slanderers....in the last days people will be slanderers. In that they will will think nothing about spreading falsehoods about people today. Someone does a good work and they will start a slanderous story about them and will spread it like wildfire. The story may be about their past before they came to Christ, it may be true or it may even be false. It won’t matter to them. We already see a lot of this going on in the media.
Without Self-Control.... people will have no self-control about anything in their lives.
Whatever their flesh tells them to do they obey it. It may be a problem with anger, alcohol, drugs, sex, or food. We see this happening all the time.
Brutal....the dictionay say this about that word: typical of beasts : ANIMAL
2 : befitting a brute : as a : grossly ruthless or unfeeling b : CRUEL, COLD-BLOODED c : HARSH, SEVERE d : unpleasantly accurate and incisive e : very bad or unpleasant
2: directed by ungovernable will
Another word for headstrong is someone who is unruly. An unruly person is someone who will not submit to another, or they want things their way. To them it’s either their way �?or the highway.
Haughty�? This is being blatantly and disdainfully proud, it means these type people will show scorn for inferiors, they will assume superiority or loftiness, they think their birth or position is superior to others.
Lovers of Pleasure Rather Than Lovers of God�? In the last days people will love pleasures more than God. Why? Why are people so indifferent to the state of their spiritual well being? Why is the Bible just a center piece for the coffee table today? Why are people so defiant toward heaven and so little concerned about sin? Why is it so hard to find time to pray and seek God? Yet there is plenty of time for the things people wants to do! It could be there is no fear of God! In Proverbs it says "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding" (Proverbs 9:10).
Verse 5 of 2 Tim. 3 says: “having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such turn away!�?BR>What are the characteristics of a false teacher or minister?
1.They don’t see the heartfelt anguish or need of those in their flock.
2.Their motives are impure.
3.They have a greed for money and the power it brings.
4.They have an inconsiderate attitude and spiritual weakness.
5. He does not care for those he is serving.
6. Seeks material wealth and position in society.
The above should give us some clues about false ministers. They are tares among the wheat in God’s service. They see serving God’s people as a means for profit. Many are inconsiderate and their ministry is more about them and their desires than the true needs of the flock. Many are spiritually weak, “having a form of godliness but denying its power.�?They merely go through the motions of godly works. We are to avoid them. Don’t give them a dime either or you will be supporting someone false.
I wrote this Falling Away from the Faith about a year ago. I may continue this series at a later time.
