Reading see 1 Kings 19:1-21
"I am the only one who has a problem." Ever hear those words? In fact you may yourself have said the same thing. Here is something else I have heard, "I am the only one who cares", or "God doesn't seem to care about me." These are discouraging comments to say the least. There is nothing worse than feeling alone, forsaken, unloved, unwanted. Elijah felt that way. He felt that he was the only true prophet of God left in Israel especially after Queen Jezebel had had all the other prophets of God killed. Elijah had gone into hiding why? He had in chapter 18 spoken boldly for God now he was running. Did he run and hide out of fear? Was it discouragement that caused him to flee? Was he feeling sorry for himself? Maybe a bit of all these things?
Elijah felt like he was the only faithful servant of God left and as he went into hiding he heard God, in a small quiet voice He encouraged the prophet letting him know he was not alone, God was was with him and that there were seven thousand other righteous who still remained firm in their faith and trust in God.
It is easy at times to become discouraged and frustrated in what is happening in our lives, in our homes, in our churches, in our society. We wonder if God has withdrawn Himself from mankind. Is there no more hope left? If we will just stop, block out the sounds of unfaithfuleness, ungodliness from our ears we can, we will hear the small quiet voice of God tell us we are not alone He is with us, He hasn't given up on us and that there are still a few faithful followers of His left. Don't give up on hope don't give up on your faith above all don't give up on your faith and trust in God.
