Book of Acts

I will ask several questions from each  chapter when we get to them..would love to have lots of participation. I do not have the answers to the questions in front of me..as I said this is a Bible study we will all study together to learn from one another.
You may post an answer at anytime..duplicate postings are allowed.
You may even add thoughts to questions not asked.
This is not a debate..it's a study!
May God Bless Us All!

4. What did the groups who came against Peter and John, do to them?  Just as Carol said, they were seized and put in jail until the next day.

5. What was the High Priests name at this time?
( this is concerning-the healing of the lame man. )  Annas was the high priest.

6. Peter and John were set in the midst of the High Priest and asked what?  vs 7 "By what power or what name did you do this?"

9. When they saw the boldness of Peter and John, they perceived what about them?  That they were unschooled, ordinary men.  Unschooled meant that they had not been trained in the rabbinic schools nor hold official positions in recognized religious circles.  The boldness (courage) of their character suggest that they had assurance, authority and forthrightness as an apostle should.

10. But they marveled and took knowledge of Peter and John- Why?  Because they took note that they had been with Jesus.

11. Why couldn't they that came against Peter and John say anything against the lame man's healing?  Because for one thing, they could see the lame man healed standing before them with their own eyes.  For another thing, the people who also saw the miracle were praising God and the priests could not deny the miracle and were probably afraid of a riot if they punished Peter and John.  The priests did command Peter and John to no longer speak or teach at all int he name of Jesus (vs 18), but Peter and John put the priests in their place by replying "Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God's sight to obey you rather than God.  For we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard." (vs 19 & 20).

What was the age of the lame man who was healed?  Over 40 years old (vs 22).

After being let go Peter and John went were?  They went back to their own people....probably the same upper room (vs23).

What did they do after that? And why was that important?  They told everyone in their congregation of what the chief priests and the elders had said to them, then they all prayed to God asking for guidance and power.  It was important because the miracle they had done was in the name of Jesus and after they finished praying God shook their meeting place, filled them with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God boldly.  The shaking of the meeting place was a signal from God that He had heard their prayer.  Speaking the word of God boldly meant that they continued to preach the gospel despite the warnings of the council.
That's what we are all commanded to do....share the word of God boldly no matter who dares to warn us not to or who condemns us for it.

Thanks Karla..very good!! Here are the next questions I think Alive-Light is going to be joining us when she gets the chance.

1.)  In v. 32- It says that the multitude who believed were of one heart and one soul.
What does that mean to you? What if the believers of today would get inof one heart and sould today..what do you think would happen?
What does having all things common mean?

2.) Was there a need among any of the early believers? Why or Why not!

3.) So being filled with the Holy spirit and procaiming the Word of God was not the only thing that was important to the early believers? Tell what your thoughts are concerning this.

1.)  In v. 32- It says that the multitude who believed were of one heart and one soul.
What does that mean to you? They were in harmony with each other...focused together in the Holy Spirit.  What if the believers of today would get inof one heart and sould today..what do you think would happen?  Imagine world peace!  At least, if all the believers were in harmony with each other, world peace could almost be achieved.
What does having all things common mean?  They shared their personal possessions as if they weren't their own...what was theirs became everyone else's.  I believe that is the way it is suppose to be in church families.

2.) Was there a need among any of the early believers? No.  Why or Why not!  If there was a need among any of the believers it was taken care of.  Everyone shared what they had, even sold their possessions (fields and houses) to aid the apostles and fellow believers.

3.) So being filled with the Holy spirit and procaiming the Word of God was not the only thing that was important to the early believers? Tell what your thoughts are concerning this.  I believed that God recognized that humans had earthly needs as well as spiritual needs.  He made sure that both types of needs were taken care of through the Holy Spirit filling all the believers and each other meeting the needs of all the other believers around them.
