'Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter--when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then "your" light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard. Then you will call, and the LORD will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I. 'If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk, and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, "then your light" will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday. Isaiah 58:6-10 NIV If you will, then God will; the words here underlined show us clearly why so many today are "missing" God in their lives. Many today are miserable, complaining, malicious tale bearers of gloom and doom. We live in a disposable age of "self" improvement, "self" prospering, and the more we sink into the darkness, the more we do not see the needs God places in our path. Look at the underlined words in the beginning of this scripture above. Whatsoever things you bind on earth, shall be found bound in Heaven. Whatsoever things you loose on earth, shall be found loosed in Heaven. By your words are you justified and by your words are you condemmed. Share, provide, clothe and set people free instead of putting more and more condemnation on them...to justify your own selfishness. If you live out this scripture you will find yourself walking in the light to it's fullness, and righteousness shall give you boldness to be free to set others free. Because of the blood Jesus shed on the cross to give us eternal life, we are those who can say, whom the son sets free are free indeed. |
