Dear brother Don, can you give me an example of a few Ministries that you consider to be "Prosperity Ministries" ? While I agree with you in part, that there are some Ministries out there that are actually leeching people dry with their constant requests for money; i have to say that there are many large ministries that are truly doing the work that the Lord has called them to do. They are reaching the lost souls throughout the World with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They are feeding and clothing the poor. They are going to the aid of those that have lost everything through natural disasters etc. All of these things cost a great deal of money. If we didn't help some of these Ministries by giving them money, then how could they reach the lost souls all over the World ? How could they feed the hungry and clothes the poor ? How could they help people that are hurting because of losing everything to natural disasters ? The Lord does bless those that sew into His work . He blesses cheerful givers. He blesses those that sew into fertile ground, Amen... IN HIS LOVE, BROTHER CLINT<(((>( |

From what I can gather from Scripture, the local church is what God uses to reach out to the poor and needy. For those who call the TV evangelists their "pastor", will your "pastor" come visit you when you are sick or in the hospital? Will they come to your home and comfort you in time of bereavement? No, the local church pastor is the one who is given these duties. We are supposed to "nor forsake the assemblying of yourselves together". This cannot happen in front of the TV screen. |

I believe in giving to your local church first, then if you are blessed of the Lord to give to other ministries that are truly serving the Lord, by all means give. For whatever we do for the least of these our bretheren it is as doing it unto the Lord. But always place your local church first! Because... do we not place our own family ahead of another person's family in providing for them? Love, Aalie |

I will agree with that. I have been involved with preachers who came on a conference line for truck drivers numerous times and never asked for a dime. I have known people that continue doing prison ministrty for free. I have also belonged to one that would use deceitful and unethical means to get what he wanted. It was mostly surrounded by money. The Lord has really shown me something in regard to that. I dont worship people and yes some are not doing everything in a Christian manner. It does not cause me to throw away my Bible and change to another religion. For me personally, I can get so zeroed in on folks that get off track and misguided that I am not looking at what I need to be doing. When people preach a prosperity Gospel I envision people in a 3rd world country with the clothes on their back. To me prospering spiritually is what I am striving for. |
