True Peace
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (Mat 11:28)
____________
Coming to Christ always frees us from the the heavy burden of striving to obtain what only the Prince of Peace can give. Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. (Pro 3:5)
My 5 year old daughter was interrupting while I was trying to write. "Wendy, go read or draw... Or something... Daddy's trying to work." (This is not love- it's frustration.)
"But Daddy..."
Didn't she hear me? How can I finish my work if she won't leave me alone?
Jesus took the blind man by the hand and led him... "Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God." (Luke 18:16)
In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. (Pro 3:6) Let's pray.
Lord Jesus, you are the good Shepherd. Our efforts to obtain fulfillment by following our own understanding are frustrating. Open our heart to hear, to turn to you and away from anxious striving. Amen.
Today's very great and precious promise
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives..." (John 14:27)
We have God's Word on it.
