First
Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. (Matt 6:33)
______________
Seek first. Not second, after I take care of this. Not when we feel better, not when that other person gets it right. Jesus says, "You follow me!" (see John 21:22)
We are born again to know Jesus Christ, to obtain the righteousness of God that comes by faith. (see Phil 3: 8-9) This faith will seek the kingdom of God first, leading us to walk with him and serve him continually.
Seek him first when you rise from sleep. Seek him first in every difficulty. Seek him first in your repentance. Seek him first in every good word and work.
Seek him first before all things, and as your priority in all things. Seek him first in thanksgiving and praise. Serve the Lord with gladness. (see Psalm 100:2) Let's pray.
Lord Jesus, you come before all things, and in you, all things hold together. Help us to know you, to keep you first and foremost in our mind. Save us from our foolish self determination so that we will serve you more today. Amen.
Today's very great and precious promise
"If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him." (John 12:26)
We have God's Word on it.
