Coinnut,
I had the same question about storage limits,
I posted my question at Yuku on the help forum, and did get an answer, also I had an issue about saying I have no room left try deleting some pictures, I knew I did not load very many images, so I submitted a support ticket, and got an excellent reply in my email,
I will copy/paste the answer for you:

Each free account has 30 mb while paid accounts have 100 mb
Are you using the space for images for your account or for your board?
If you are wanting to host board images, there is a way to increase the amount of storage space that you have.
Every board comes with a support account and that account has the same amount of image storage space as any free Yuku account. You can use that space for hosting images for the board and leave your account space for yourself.
You will make sure that the support account has admin powers so that it has access to the design areas.
Just use the Support link in the upper right corner of your board to log into the board support account. Then upload images the same way that you would in your own space. Then when you want to make new skins or change the images in a current skin any admin can switch to the support account and have access to the images by clicking on the icon at the end of the url field in the wysiwyg editor.
This works really well for boards where more than one person is responsible for board images and skins. The person needing to work on the board just has to access the support account.

I did go to my Yuku site, and clicked on support at the top of the page after you click on support, there is a popup, asking if want to switch, click yes, after you have switched to support, click on images, there is an area there to use for images you will be using on your boards.
After you are done in the support area, click log out, then sign in with your normal user acct.
I hope this information helps you.
God bless you,
Deanna
