Please pray for this work in Asia sincerely, that God would prepare the hearts of many young men and women to go into the fields to harvest the fruit and that He would raise the support they need to train! Please watch the video presentation below! It will challenge you! Bro. Joe -------Original Message------- | July 13, 2004 | Vol. IV Issue 24 | My Account | 145,000 Subscribed | | Dear Reverend Diaz, It's a blessing to be able to write to you this morning and share what God is doing in Asia. Please take some time today to watch a short video update called "Training for Eternity."
This morning I prayed for a dear woman who supports the work of GFA. She recently wrote to us and let us know that her doctor had just informed her that she has cancer and that it is likely inoperable. I was grieved for her and asked our Lord to touch her body and heal her.
But what struck me most about her letter was that instead of thinking of herself, she let us know that she was praying for the native missionary she supports and would continue doing so. What a great testimony of someone who has an eternal perspective on life!
Our lifetime is so short compared to eternity. Yet God has given us the great privilege to expand His kingdom and store up treasures in heaven with the few precious seconds of life He has granted us.
My prayer for each of us this week is that He may "teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom" (Psalm 90:12, NKJV).
Grace and peace,
John Schwartz
P.S. You'll want to read the report below of lives lost due to ongoing flooding in South Asia -- much prayer is needed.

| | | | | | Flooding Claims More than 100 Lives - 07/13/04 | | Imagine living in one of the poorest regions in the world and, during heavy flooding, being forced to flee your home, losing what little you have. Even worse, imagine that in your frantic search for dry ground, you lose your life--perhaps before ever having the chance to hear about Jesus Christ.
In South Asia, ongoing monsoon-related flooding recently pushed more than two million people out of their homes in northeast India and Bangladesh, officials say. Hundreds of people in this region lose their lives yearly because of floods and landslides, both of which are common phenomena (or occurrences) during monsoon season. And this year has been no exception. These areas are part of the 10/40 Window, where 97 percent of the world's unreached people live.
In India, the Brahmaputra River flooded its banks. According to BBC News, the chief minister of Assam (India) spoke of the flooding as being the most severe in recent years. In Bihar state, roads and railway tracks were inundated in water.
Nepal has not escaped damage either, with landslides blocking major roads leading to its capital. At least 36 people have died there due to flooding this past week, and much of the rice crop in the impoverished nation has been affected.
The low-lying country of Bangladesh has suffered most from the flooding, with a third of the country affected and parts of one city submerged. Weather forecasters predict more rain.
As we pray for these countries, may the Lord grant us understanding to put ourselves in the shoes of these people and picture what this devastation would be like. Pray for a lull in the rain, so flood waters can recede. Intercede also for our missionaries as they reach out to these precious people. May they be filled with the Father's compassion for each person. Most of all, pray that through this tragedy many will be brought into Christ's kingdom.

| | VIDEO Update: Training for Eternity - 07/12/04 | | Click to watch now! - 4:00 Going into all the world and preaching the Gospel is not enough! Unless all of our efforts result in local churches, we fail to accomplish God's primary purpose: making disciples and raising up a living body of believers to be the Bride of Christ and a witness to the world.
With this focus and conviction, we send native missionaries out to take the name of Jesus to some of the most unreached people groups and remote places in Asia.
As a result, more than 21,000 churches and mission stations have been established--all in places that previously had no churches.

| | New Life - 07/09/04 | | Going on village outreach one day, Pastor Angrej came to a home that seemed quiet and lonely. With a heart of compassion, he greeted the couple who lived there.
Jaswant and Sunitha introduced themselves as they invited the pastor to enter their comfortable home. Clearly they were well-off. Yet the couple seemed so sad, Angrej noticed.
Listening to Jaswant and Sunitha, the pastor began to understand why. They had everything they wanted--except children. Though married eight years, they had been unable to have a child.
Wanting to encourage them, Angrej shared the story of Abraham and Sarah. When the couple heard this Bible story--and others--they put their faith in God's power. When Pastor Angrej left, a beam of hope glimmered in their eyes. If Christ redeemed them so they could spend eternity with Him, surely He could also provide a child.
As the couple trusted in Jesus, He gave them peace and comfort. Within a year, they were blessed with a beautiful baby! In the midst of their rejoicing, they were ever thankful to God for the two gifts He provided--His salvation and their dear child.
