Hello Reverend Diaz,
May the Lord our God who created the universe be your portion and shield today!

I trust that today's reports from the field will be a blessing to you. Here is the latest:

A student at a Gospel for Asia Bible college, 23-year-old Vichumenuo [photo] has a smile that lights up her face. Her Christ-like joy is contagious to people around her.

Her life was not always filled with such peace. Though born to godly parents who encouraged her to read God's Word, Vichumenuo had no grasp on God's grace. Thinking being a Christian meant living a good life, she tried to be as well-behaved as possible.

Yet Vichumenuo knew something was missing. "What is it?" she wondered. The Lord spoke to her heart during a worship service for youth. Realizing her desperate need of God's mercy, Vichumenuo asked Christ to save her.

She continued to read her Bible, but this time its truths came alive for her. "I started spending time in prayer and in study of the Word, seeking to know my Lord intimately," she said. Precious times with her Savior gave Vichumenuo the joy she shares with others as she brings the love of Christ to other women in India.

I praise God for wonderful sisters like this in Asia who are making a tremendous impact among the unreached.

For those who've never heard,

John Schwartz

Instead of raising support and going on a short-term trip for two weeks, you can raise the same amount of support and send a native missionary for an entire year! He already knows the language and culture and will likely plant a church within one year's time. Learn more at MaxMissions.com!

A Faith Renewed - 03/29/04

Mangi stepped inside the church and stood against the back wall. Everyone seemed so happy, singing and clapping. How different it was from the church he'd attended growing up. But the noise was aggravating his headache, and he wasn't sure how long he could stand it.

Just as his head pounded harder than he thought he could bear, the congregation sat down and the pastor came up front. Mangi was prepared for a long, boring sermon that he wouldn't understand. His mind started to drift. But after praying, the pastor talked about the Christian faith and shared practical teachings from the Bible. Mangi had never heard a sermon like this before. The hour passed by like minutes.

After the service ended Mangi approached the pastor and shared some of his struggles with him. For quite some time, Mangi had suffered from headaches. Many treatments were taken, but to no avail. His headache only seemed to grow worse. The pain was so severe it had kept him from traveling to another area in search of a better job.

The pastor spoke with Mangi and prayed for him. He encouraged Mangi to trust that Jesus could heal his headaches. Although Mangi had grown up in church, he'd never heard this.

As Mangi prayed for his own healing, he experienced renewal in his Christian faith, as well as sweet relief from his pain. Gradually his headaches disappeared for good. This led to an even deeper faith in his Savior. He now knew a different Jesus than he had known before--a Lord who heals and cares for each aspect of His children's lives. Today Mangi shares his newfound joy with everyone he meets, even as he thanks God for the man who pointed him to it.

Willing to Give Her Life - 03/25/04

In desperation--and afraid for her life--the woman asked her family to call some Christians to pray. None of her gods were listening. Maybe the Christian God could do something, she thought.

Asmika obeyed the instructions. She knew her family's life was spinning out of control. And she would do anything to help. Not only was Asmika's ailing mother fighting for her life, but their family business was also in jeopardy. One by one their cattle were dying. How would they survive? Asmika wondered.

When Asmika found some Christians, they were glad to come. And when they prayed, her mother was completely healed. Even the sickness that had plagued their livestock suddenly disappeared. Amazed at these miracles, Asmika and her family realized that Jesus Christ is the only true God and received Him as Lord and Savior.

God's plan for this family didn't end there. The Lord called Asmika to become a native missionary, and today she studies at a Bible college in India. She is preparing to reach the millions of women and children in Asia who have never heard the name of Jesus.

Praise God that people just like Asmika are ready to give their lives to reach the millions in Asia who still need the Gospel. But they can't do it alone: They need special people like you to link their lives with them.

Finding Forgiveness - 03/24/04

Kamal [photo], 20, remembers the unrest his family endured when he was a child. Seeking favor with their countless gods and goddesses, they would visit the temple daily and rise early to perform cleansing rituals. Their endless sacrifices left them poor, yet they still did not find forgiveness of sin.

That began to change when Kamal heard the name of Jesus spoken by an evangelist. The words of the missionary rang in Kamal's ears until one day he invited the man to his home. Eager to know more about this Jesus who could forgive sins, Kamal shared his struggles with the kind missionary, who prayed for him and shared from God's Word.

Some time later, Kamal bought a small Bible to read. Each time he studied its pages, he understood a little more about Jesus. He knew Jesus was using the words of this book to speak to Him. "In the quietness of my heart," Kamal remembers, "I prayed to receive Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior."

Surprised by the peace and joy he suddenly experienced, Kamal started to grow in his relationship with Christ. Soon he heard God's call to dedicate his life for evangelistic outreach. "Jesus had given me such hope, and I wanted to share it with others," he said. As Kamal continued to pray, God opened the door for him to join a Bible college to prepare for ministry.

A young man who once couldn't find forgiveness of sins now reaches out to others with the love of Christ. "It is my greatest desire to share about Jesus with those who have never heard his name before," says Kamal.
