| | | | Latest News | | | | | Manja's Case Rescheduled for May 7 - 04/15/04
We have encouraging news about Manja, the wrongfully imprisoned Nepali missionary awaiting his trial. Today we found out Manja's case is scheduled to be heard May 7 before a full panel of judges. Earlier we reported that his March 18 hearing was cancelled—to the dismay of several judges, including the chief justice. With thousands of cases pending in the Nepali Supreme Court, it is through God's provision that the trial could be rescheduled this soon. Manja's chief lawyer is well-known and highly respected in his profession. Still, writes a GFA field leader, many details need to fall into place for the trial. Thank you for your continued prayers for Manja, a dear brother with a heart to reach Nepali people.
Pray: 1) For the Lord to prepare the judges' hearts 2) Wisdom for the lawyers in making the case for Manja's innocence 3) For Manja to stay encouraged in the Lord 4) For his wife's strength and comfort as she reaches out to women and children

| | No More Idols - 04/19/04
Anil was one of those people who seemed he would never change. But God changed him.
Born and raised in a non-Christian home, Anil worshipped his family's idol every time he left the house. When he was sick he performed rituals to the idol. His family had an entire room dedicated to idol worship.
His father had two wives who argued all the time, and the neighbors laughed at them. Because of this, Anil felt humiliated. Another problem was huge family debt, which had forced Anil to quit school and get a job. Then he joined a gang of criminals. In the midst of all this a neighbor invited Anil to a Christian youth meeting. There he received Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Now he is enrolled in a Gospel for Asia Bible college.
“As long as I live,?Anil says now, “I want to be faithful to the Lord Jesus and preach salvation to all.?A little boy raised to bow down to idols, then caught up in a gang, is now preaching the Gospel. All glory to God.

It was 1995, and Bikram had many dreams for the future. He had left his home and moved to Punjab state to start his own business, and he was very happy. His business prospered for a while, but then suddenly started struggling. Bikram soon fell into debt, with nobody to help him.
Bikram felt life had failed him, and he saw no way out. During this time, he met an evangelist, who shared about peace and hope in Christ. These precious words touched Bikram. Yearning for redemption, he received Christ as Savior.
As time passed, Bikram decided to relocate and start his business again. The Lord blessed it, and Bikram made many new friends. In his prosperity and security, Bikram soon forgot the Lord.
But a few years later, in 2003, Bikram became sick. Unable to work, again he watched his business fail. This time he moved back to his home village, bitter and upset. He still ignored God, forgetting all that He had done—until one day someone visited his home. It was another missionary, a Gospel for Asia native pastor. As the man of God tenderly counseled Bikram, the distraught businessman began to weep over the mistakes of the past years. If only he had not turned his back on God during his prosperity! This had left Bikram miserable and lonely.
As he spoke with the missionary, he learned about starting over—about grace and second chances. That day he readily gave the ashes of his life back to Jesus so He could build something beautiful. Bikram rededicated himself to serving the Lord and now worships Him daily. Today he works in his village, repairing watches. Pray for Bikram, who wants the Lord to use him as a willing tool in His hands.
