This is a Mail I just received for prayers:
The Evangelical Fellowship of India requests your prayers for the incidents mentioned below:
Attack on Church of God, Raipur, Chhattisgarh
The Church of God, a large Pentecostal church in Raipur, Chhattisgarh had their 59th annual convention from October 16th-21st 2007. At this convention, 39 baptisms took place.
Dharmsena, a RSS affiliated Hindu nationalist organization filed a complaint to the police on October 20th (the same day as the baptisms) against this activity. The police came to the church that same evening for investigation. After recording testimonies of those baptized- they clarified that they did not find any case of conversion by force or allurement.
Consequently, the Dharmsena organised a demonstration with clubs in front of the Civil Lines Police Station on Sunday, October 21st to build pressure on the police and administration. Unidentified persons stoned the church at about 11:30 PM on Monday October 22nd . An FIR has been registered by the pastor of the church under section 336.
Names and addresses of 75 persons who came from outside to attend the convention and 39 persons who took baptism were recorded by the police.
Please uphold the church in your prayers. Pray especially for the pastors and believers who are facing further police inquiry.
Christians attacked in Kalyanpuri, Delhi
A group of about 30 Hindu fanatics attacked the main speaker, Rev. Ivan Moses and other believers during a Christian meeting on October 28, 2007 in Kalyanpuri, Delhi.
The two day meeting, attended by around 250 people was organized by Rev. Ravi Samuel from October 27-28th.
The last day of the meeting was disrupted by the fanatics as they came in and started shouting anti-Christian slogans. Rev. Moses and a few other believers were attacked but did not sustain injuries.
Rev. Ravi Samuel informed the Evangelical Fellowship of India that some of the miscreants have been arrested. No formal FIR has been lodged by the Christians in regard to this incident.
Please pray that the pastors and believers who attended the meeting would remain bold and would continue to grow in their faith. Pray also for their safety.
