am writing you most importantly for prayer about something I know nothing about how God uses things and people to raise up money.. but wanted to ask you if you have any ideas because you are out in the world more than me. In fact I have had some "heart" issues and just got out of the hospital,
I have made some friends on who live in a town called Beloit, they have a coffee house, a rooming house, a place where they have concerts, bands and dinners and just plain old fashioned early church without "church" ministry.
YOU can on my space type in overflowing cup and find the web site which shows the coffee house, which has two pastors, and two that help, but outwardly is having real struggles to keep even open.
I just received a email from the pastors wife I went to go here in Monroe for a walk and noticed a young man with a cross around his neck and started up a conversation only to find out he was from that very coffee house ministry with Pastor Jerry, Dave, and he was being trained there...but in Monroe to set up a computer system. I prayed with him and had written Cindy the wife "just" to let her know that I met him and was still praying about whether God wanted me in Beloit or Janesville , I should find out before WEds either way....but I said that to say this. I am going to share with you the email I got from the Pastor's wife, which I followed by asking her how much money she needed to get the lights turned back on, and then she followed with the second part.
I used to minister to the homeless, had a pantry, resourceful and also with meals, met needs and God always showed me HE provides ok? So please pray after reading this, and you know this wisconsin area, so you write me if the Lord shows you any at all idea for how I could help them raise money to put on the lights in their building. The early church thought nothing was their own and that is how I have always lived. I have bought brand new guitars for myself and ended up giving them to young men who played so skillfully but had old or not so good sounding guitars. I hope you know my heart and will pray for the Lord to show if there is any rubber to meet the road here in this need. Here is the email. You pray about it and if ANYthing comes to mind, share it with me ok? Thanks, Jackie
Yes, Jackie, it is so true about God's timing...and if things fall into place without a hitch, I've learned that it's His plan and will. When they don't, like if a door shuts, then I know it's not. But I have also learned that the enemy likes to discourage as well, by putting up stumbling blocks. Like today, we had an awesome service. Now the enemy probably thought that since we didn't have the funds to keep the electricity from being shut off that we would have to cancel. Instead, I cooked at home and brought the food in, we had some candles, and one of our guys brought in a PA system for praise and worship. It was simple, yet a powerful service and I never felt the spirit as much as I did today. Our tiny congregation is growing, it didn't stop the people from coming. I felt so blessed today. SO....we may not have electricity for a few days, but God is still there and it won't be long. And I truly believe it won't be long that you will get your answer as well. Will continue to pray about those health issues too.
Big warm hugs and many blessings,
Cindy
second email
Well the last I heard it was 21 hundred. I think we've got like 500 hundred so far. During the winter it costs like about 15 hundred a month to heat the place. We had managed to keep it going with the special events and donations until now.
Cindy
See if you can find out exactly how much you would need to get it turned on and how much you need to put ON the bill to get things going, and do you need a deposit all over again, and also... find out if we could raise money if we had a concert, IF SOME ONE gets me, I could do one with you some day, let me know,, P U S H P ray U ntil S omething H appens...ok? GBU, Jackie
ok..will do Jackie, will let you know.
hugs,
Cindy
so please pray for this loving ministry that God will build up a body who pushes through not having lights to have worship.
