My Conversion (Part 3)
Okay we are now at part three of my conversion experiences. The reason I do it in parts is because it is easier to read a little everyday than to read a whole lot in one day, and of course that goes the same for writing. A little writing everyday is easier and takes less time than to write a big long segment. We were talking about going to the Full Gospel meetings, and I wanted to hear someone speak in the Dutch or Frisian tongues so I would know for sure that this was for real. I must tell you the truth! I never did hear anyone speak in another tongue and it be in a language I could understand. But that certainly does not matter since it is a language of the Spirit of God, and God can understand every word. In fact the only time in the Bible that I know of was when the disciples who were filled with the Holy Spirit in the upper room (Acts chapter 2, left the upper room to go into the streets of the city, and they still spoke in the language (or tongues) they never learned. There in the city were devout men from every nation under heaven, and they all heard these disciples speak in their own language, from what ever nation they were from. That tells me that these 120 followers of Christ who were in the upper room all spoke different languages, whatever language God chose to give them, for the people that were on the streets of that city at that particular time. I have heard that this has happened at other times in different churches, where a message in tongues was given and a person there would be able to understand it because it was in their native tongue. But this has never happened to me. But it could have it just was not in God's plan. Maybe because I could understand the English interpretation just fine and I did not need it, or it could have been that God just wanted me to believe without having to have a sign. Whatever the reason, God knows and I have learned to trust Him. So after the Full Gospel meetings, I decided I wanted to go to a Pentecostal church and learn more, because the Lord and His spirit was moving me in that direction. Not that I still did not love my Baptist sisters and brothers , I did! In fact I even so much as talked to some of them about it, and they encouraged me instead of putting me down. I am ever so thankful for these Baptist sisters and brothers, and I love them to this very day! I decided to start checking out a local Assemblies of God church in town, but did not want to take my children yet... because I was not sure about the teaching and leading of the Lord at that point. I let a church bus pick up my kids and they took them to the Baptist church, and I walked over to the Aasemblies of God church, it was only about 3-4 blocks from my house. When I got to the steps of the church, I looked in and saw the Sunday School teacher finish up with the Sunday School adult class in the sanctuary, so I walked in. This was a lady teacher, and usually adults were not taught by women in the Baptist church. So this was different... but I felt the annointing that this teacher was under. And it was good! I am not sure of the pastor's message anymore what it was about, but I enjoyed hearing him and his wife sing a special, and he also played the guitar. I enjoyed the service so much that I came back for the Sunday evening service. The pastor's name was Bro. Shafer and his wife was Sis Shafer. I did not attend the Wednesday night service since I worked evenings at Mallory's. But the following Sunday, I took my children to church with me and also went to Sunday School. Low and behold the Sunday school teaching started that Sunday on the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. I still have that very Sunday School quarterly lesson book, because those lessons meant so much to me! I will continue with this story next time. Some very interesting experience happened to me!
God Bless you until next time,
Love, Aalie
