A Gift Of Love
God wants to tell you where I was When all these things began; I know that back in time, somewhere Mom, you thought God must have a plan.
For in the beginning, when you and Dad met You fell very much in love; There were some difficult challenges You prayed for wisdom from above.
You had an interesting courtship As you worked some problems through; Then you set a wedding date Your commitment had proved true.
The wedding day finally arrived Mom, you were a beautiful bride; Dad, you were the handsomest of men At the church, many guests waited within.
The wedding was an awesome event Many invitations had been sent; You joined your lives together that day You vowed until death, together you'd stay.
Your lives seemed perfect at the start Then loneliness crept into Mama's heart; A tiny bundle of joy her arms craved These thoughts in her mind would not depart.
As time went on, this hunger grew I want a child, was all she knew; Please, God in heaven, hear my prayer Send me a baby so my love I can share.
Mama, God saw your tears of pain God saw Dad try to comfort you; You wanted a baby more than anything After all, now you wore a wedding ring.
Mama, God heard your anguished cries And saw your broken heart; I must do something to help, God said To heal my daughter's heart. It took a good amount of time There were anxious moments, too; Remember when you talked to Aunt Lynne Then with your Dad, too?
God had a precious little spirit Who he wanted to send to earth; God knew who he could send her to Who'd raise her up to love God, too. After all was said and done God sent a daughter, not a son; But I will love you with all my might I'll honor you and I'll turn out right!
You see, you are all the world to me You're all I'd ever hope to see; Like both of you I want to be Please understand one thing about me.
I came to you from God above To join my life to yours, with love; Jesus will be my Lord, someday When I'm big enough to praise and pray.
I want to make you, both, proud of me I want to be all that I can be; When on my face, a smile breaks through See God's face smiling back at you.
