SAVED
Every Sunday before the Church bell would ring, he'd sit on his porch, resting in his swing. He'd watch the smiling people as they gathered together, wearing bright happy faces even in foul weather.
He'd wait and watch as they all walked in, patiently awaiting the service to begin. Eagerly anticipating what psalms they would sing, knowing the pleasure the singing would soon bring.
He always listened but never dared to enter, for he, after all, was an old hardened sinner. Then he heard a song that made him start to think, it brought his old sinful heart right to the brink.
As they sang "Just as I am, without one plea", those words seemed to set his old heart free. Then " Amazing grace, how sweet the sound", let him know God's love, in him, was found.
He stood up straight, his head he held high, walking through the Church doors to "Sweet By and By". The Lord he confessed and then obeyedHis will, smiling as they sang about his "Mansion on the Hill".
