They're the coolest characters in movies -- think Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker in "Spider-Man," Harry Potter and -- gosh! -- Napoleon Dynamite.

Geeks are prominent in music too. Prodigious producer Pharrell Williams, along with Chad Hugo and Shae Haley, fronts the hip-hop/rock act N.E.R.D., whose name was chosen to "change the connotations of the word."

Self-professed "Geek in the Pink" Jason Mraz's most recent album, "Mr. A-Z," debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200, while "American Idol" Clay Aiken continues to thrill fans with his geeky-sweet image and powerful pipes.

So geeks have permeated the culture -- but is it really chic to go geek?

REALLY,  CLAY IS NO GEEK..........

Thanks Ima.    Yep, I'd agree about those powerful pipes!

Good article; I missed it before. Just looking over old threads to see what I missed LOL.
