Well, mine didn't come out as well as your's did, but it was fun. I also didn't download Blade Pro either. I wanted to try using what I had.

Sau-weet (tweet, lol)...& wonderful...and such a great position on the parrot, looks like he's really looking at himself. With the subtle colored background, he really stands out.
 
I like your results better than my relative copy of the author's...you've proved ya don't need all the filters to achieve excellent results.
 
Your schooling is showing through! Glad you tried it, and now I've gotta go back and use my own image too...you've inspired me!
