Ollie, can you give me the two dollar tour on image mapping? Or at least steer me to where I can find the info myself? I am going to do a new welcome page for Ears! and I would rather do it all in PSP and just get the code to create the page. I really don't want to upload a ton of graphics, change the html codes to link things, figure out placements with numbers I don't understand, etc. If you got the info from the reference guide book that came with PSP, I have it. Thanks a bunch. |

I've got the screenshots and tried to explain it a million times but could not do it without getting "long winded" so here is the link that I learned from HERE it will show you how to do image mapping. The only thing I did different is, I didnt go back and then add the link, I added them as I mapped. Oh goodness!! I have wrote this message so many time that I forgot what was in it!!... I noticed that you wanted to create a new welcome page for Ears! If you Image Map in psp then it will make the page for you ... but msn will not support it... so you will still have to create a page to lead to the page.. just like the gallery entrance. Have fun and let me know how it works out for you. Ollie |

Aaaarrrrgggghhhh! MSN strikes again! "MSN will not support it." I kind of wanted it to be a surprise for Ears! I didn't want a whole mess of pics tuning up in my albums and showing up on the What's New page. If I put them here, most of them would not see it, but Nay and Draco are members there too. Oh well, I'll do what I can to "hide" stuff. I'll let you know when it's done so you can take a look if you want. Don't be surprised if I come screaming with another "HELP ME!" before then though. |

Quick question. It might not be a quick answer though. What is the easiest way to make a mouse-over link with a graphic? Kind of like on BB's welcome page. I have seen a couple of different ways of doing it, and of course each one says they are quicker and easier. Since none of them have said you can highlight the pic like a word and insert link, I'm assuming it can't be done that way. |

I tried saving the pics with the URL as the save name, but replacing the / with - , so I could change it back later. They never uploaded. I did it your way, and it worked. The only thing I would like to get rid of is the purple border around the pics. Well, blue if you haven't clicked on it before. You can check it out HERE. Thanks, Ollie. |

Oh, it is you, HI! I figure since your asking the question and I'm now a member here. I feel it only right I answer it, the best I can here.

I must first tell you. I am not familiar with PSP. I am however familiar with MSN communities, and HTML. In order to do the things you are asking. You will have to get used to the plain text editor in order for me to help. I know you said you wanted to do all of this in PSP. However, that is the great thing about MSN communities. They allow you several ways to make your pages better. I don't want to bore you though, so I wont answer all of your questions now.
If you would like to get rid of the blue border around your pics. Go to edit your page. Once you get there, click to check plain text editor. I know it's a mess. Just look for the code <IMG SRC="thensomelonglinkhere.jpg> There are many different things that can be different, but it's the <IMG part your looking for. Any place you do not want the blue border. Find the <IMG SRC> tag. Right after the tag add a space then border="0" some where before the SRC part of your image. Just make sure there is a space before the SRC part. Then save your page.
I know this long winded and may seem complicated, but it's not. If you have problems. Then just ask and i'll answer the best I can. I can also help you with the mouseovers and the color of your links, if interested but not in PSP. I hope this helps some. If not, I'm sorry.

Ok, Let me try that again. Your tag should look like this...
<IMG border="0" SRC="picturelinkhere.jpg"> |

Thanks, Panther. I'll go take a look at it later. If I can find the codes easily, I will probably try it. If I can't, well, the border isn't that bad. Ollie, I'll think about something short and sweet to add to the page about the group. I would like to keep as much info as possible on the screen as it opens so you don't have to scroll down for anything. I don't like having to scroll down, I'm sure some other people feel the same way. It's kind of like that grabber line in a newspaper article that makes you want to read it. If that line isn't in the first paragragh, you don't tend to read the article. |

When I finished reading the above, I thought, "What is Ollie talking about? I can see the top 1/3 of the navigation bars, people will scroll to see the rest of at least them." Then I called Ears! up with IE, not MSN. I don't see any of the navigation bars. Looks like I'll be changing it, probably today sometime if MSN cooperates with me. It already ate one message this morning. |
