Some basic INTERNAL Energy definitions:
li means external, ordinary power and energy. It is limited.
Qi, chi or ch'i means internal, hidden power and energy. It is infinite.
yi means "mind intention". We say that it is the "Emperor of All Arts" because it is more
powerful than any other element.
chi gung or Qigong means breath work. It is a system of standing and moving
meditation combined with guided visualization and breathing. It is supposed to develop ch'i.
Nei Gung is a grade higher than chi gung because it DOES NOT demand that ch'i move
along predetermined paths. Instead it "maps the meridians and is the antecedent of
acupuncture and martial arts!
Nei Gung: Nei Gung arouses ch'i by using Universal Postures and movements and
allows the ch'i to intuitively go were each individual needs it most at that particular
space/time for greatest energetic, healing or martial effect. Nei Gung also has another
defintion. It is the umbrella term for all internal arts including Ba Gua Chang, Hsing i Chuan
and Tai Chi Chuan. Essentially Nei Gung is Chinese Yoga: a vast matrix including
Dan Tien: Is the the Chinese metaphor for Chakras, there is no difference. The energy
wheels at various points on the centerline and other areas of the body. They are "energy
wheels" which spin clockwise. The are "traffic centers" of bioelectricity and etheric Flow.
The most
important of these in our discipline is the Sacral chakra located 3 sideways fingers below
the navel in the core of the body. YOUR TRUE CENTER OF GRAVITY AND WHERE WE
BEGAN AS THE FRUIT OF THE MOTHER'S WOMB. WOMB TO WOMB. This is the l
ocation of your body brain (not the skull as most imagine. Can you see what a problem is
centering and focus this causes?!). We usually refer to it simply as The Dan Tien
(pronounced Dahn Tee-En).
Shen: This means spirit in its vital and active aspect.
Sink: Standing with knees slightly bent, back straight and if sitting on an invisible seat.
This gives one ROOTEDNESS (EG. Peng {pong}Wall Energy-Earth Power).
LOHAN (pronounce Low-Hahn): This refers to the fact that we never stand upon the
Earth unanchored in our practice. We gain power from yoga-like body alignment and
projecting our lower half into the earth and our upper half into the sky and our movements
are relaxed, spontaneous and controlled by our Soul. One would have to move Heaven and
Earth to move us. One would have to defeat Heaven and Earth to defeat us.
