Hi this is sunshine,
I have not been here in a while, between moving from NC back to Fla..geting 4 hurrcanes. Now I need some advice, I am a type 2 diabet, gone from diet, to taking the pills, to now using insulen.
When I was in NC They started me on the shots, and the Dr. said to find out where you should be, and I went home took my BS and I keep going up. I called the DR. said to keep giving it untill it leavles out.. Well it never did..I was giving myself 100 untis 2x a day. 70/30, I went back and he sent me to a diabet Dr. where he had lots of test done, and I went in and he said he got the test back, and I am "insulen resistant", Ok what now, well he said to go and lose weight, and decreass you insulen!( I am a bad speller and tonight is a rough time)I ask to what, and he never answer that question,  but he charge us $900.
My sugars have been in the 300`s there and we mved here and I am at a clinc here in Fla,, and we see a different Dr. so they all have there thing, but I am still in the 300`s and to 400`s. I am sick and I do have Fibromyalge, arthrides, high blood presure, and depression, and I have a lot of problems from that and I THINK if I could get the Fibro.. under controle it would help my sugars.BUT there is noting they can do, if some one would get my pain better, and if I sleep better, I think the sugar would go down. I cant sleep, I cant sleep in the bed, because I cant get up, so I sleep on the sofa, where I roll of the sofa, and then craw to the table to put up, so I can go to the bathroom! I need to know what to do, and no one has said anything that makes sence.. So Is the someone out there who can do better at it, as the DRs. did? HELP! love sunshine <smile> God loves us! sometime I have to remember that..

Hi Sunshine, I read up a little on Fibromyalgia . The pain associated with Fibromyalgia could very well make your sugars run high and to help fight off the effect of this disease you need sleep.Talk to your new Dr about approching the sleep probnlem you are having . Below is a little of what I read.

COMMON TREATMENTS

Traditional treatments are geared toward improving the quality of sleep and reducing pain. Deep level (stage 4) sleep is crucial for many body functions (such as tissue repair, antibody production, and the regulation of various neurotransmitters, hormones and immune system chemicals). Therefore, the sleep disorders that frequently occur in FMS patients are treated first because they may be a strong contributing factor to the symptoms of this condition. Medications that boost your body's level of serotonin and norepinephrine (neurotransmitters that modulate sleep, pain, and immune system function) are commonly prescribed in low doses, such as amitriptyline, cyclobenzaprine and Celexa. Ambien, clonazepam, and trazodone are just a few of the medications that may be used to aid sleep. Ultram may help with the pain, although stronger opioids may be needed for treating moderate to severe pain. Muscle relaxants and other drug categories may be prescribed as well. Each issue of the Fibromyalgia Network newsletter contains information about new drug therapy options, as well as advice about how to make use of existing medications to minimize FMS symptoms.

In addition to medications, most patients will need to use other treatment methods as well, such as trigger point injections with lidocaine, physical therapy, occupational therapy, acupuncture, acupressure, relaxation/biofeedback techniques, osteopathic manipulation, chiropractic care, therapeutic massage, or a gentle exercise program.

Sunshine, One of the things you can do for insulin resistance is exercise.  Just walking will help.  Thats about the only exercise I can do but when I walk every day my blood sugar is better.  I know that is hard with arthritis but I take my pain med before I walk.

If I get a good night I will wake up better, Even my husband has keep track and he saids, yes I do.
I just need a DR. I will have to see who took the place of the Dr. I was seeing at the clinc.
As four my blood sugary I fine it lately, easer for me to take my B/S before I do anything, and then see if i cant get it right, and see how I can do with that.. but thamk you its good to talk to someone who knows what I am say..love sunshine <smile> God Loves Us..

Sunshine hon, you get your doctor to send you to a pain management doctor and FAST! You do NOT have to suffer quite as much, I don't think anyway, as you are. Before I found my painmanagement doc I didn't sleep, I walked the floors ALL NIGHT, I cried, you name it and I did it to try to take away the pain I have because of DDD, 4 herniated dise, and lots of other things and when I found my pm doc things got a lot better. I still have to fight daily with some pain but not near like I was. There are so many meds out there that help and some that prevent (as mine does) pain. I think your gp could refer you to one. I can't tell you how much I suffered before finding this doc cause my sugarssoared and that makes you feel 100% worse so you have to try to get some help.
Now, the sugars, your right that your pain makes them worse. Is there a reason your doc is making you use the 70/30? There are some fantastic insulins out there now and the 70/30 is pretty obsolete (sp?). Ask them to get your sugars right and if they don't tell you how to do this then you have to try to find someone that will. You shouldn't just be told to go down on the insulin and not help you with anything else! Get going girl and you tell the docs to help and NOW! You can do it!

Hi this is sunshine, again... I am sorry I have not got back to you sooner, computer sick, hurricands hit Fla.. before it went in to the gulf.

We were very vevy luck, and God was right here with us. I am praying for the people in the gulf..

We are here in center Fla.. Avon Park, in the central Fla..

we got the 4 hurricands last year we thought it was bad, but watching the people going through what they are now, we had nothing.. we  had a house to come too at 6 months, we are both diabets, and they had some one checking in and see if we were doing OK.. we did have it better, even if we did not know it then.

I did get the doctor to give me something different, about a month ago, and It was La...new and exspendtif, sorry not sure how to spell it, but it did some thing compleat different, the more I took it burn, and I kept giving it to me, untill the burning was so bad I had to stop 1/2 way thrugh the shot.I used it for a long time, I did not want to thank that if they are helping me, and if I did not give it a chance...

I am with a clinc, and the doctors change allot, so I get some one different, and they just slid over it. The one now she is trying to help.

So I go in again and see what they can do now.. thank you for the articial and your support and prays..we will get throuh this..

love sunshine

<smile God loves us>
sometimes I have to remembem that..

Sunshine, I take Lantus. I think that is what you dr gave you. I am also very insulin resistant. I have to count every carb I eat and still can't get below 6 on my a1c.  You  really need to walk that is the main exercise that I do and its is slow because I walk with a cane. There is a Richard Simmons video of chair exercises for people who are in wheel chairs I do that sometimes too.  Have you tried sleeping in a recliner? I have sleep apnea and need my head raised to sleep so I use a recliner.  It would be much easier than getting off a couch. I had so much trouble getting up from couches that I gave our away.  I am glad that you are safe after the storm.  Try a little walking.
