I have been on this for quite a while did not have a cough or muscle weakness but at the hospital when I went in for treatment of high potassium the doctor asked it I had them The medicine is high in potassium and the doctor reduced the amount I was taking in half |

I've been on Lisinopril about 5 years when my BP started creeping up. The Dr. wanted me to take the highest dose I could tolerate because of it's kidney protecting qualities (I also have Policystic Kidney Disease - a double whammy on the kidneys along with the diabetes). The Dr. kept increasing by 10mg when I started until we got to 40mg were I've been the past 4 years. I got the dry cough which lasted about a month and came back each time he increased the dosage. But, the cough went away after the month and I've not had any other side effects since. My BP is great as well (120/65). -Lisa |

So happy I found this thread, as I was feeling so weak... all my muscles and had a dry hacking cough. My new Dr. switched my bp med for no apprarent reason, except he said I was on the "cadillac" of bp drugs. Thank God I had more refills on my old med cozaar and am feeling better. Thanks for sharing Eleanor |

Sincere Feedback: Been on Zest 40 for the last few years up from the 10 20 30 since the late 80's, 90's to present Also a Verapmiller and a HCTZ'er. Tried the Tarka and some other samples too. There seemed to be in my opinion a 'blunk' in Zest at least for me from mid 07 to 2-08. This is just my personal feedback that affected me. It started with those double pentagons. I have noticed that toward the end of last year and early this year that the Lis was seeming to wack me. I had some stage two ephisodes and over the last decade bounce between S1 & S2. Factors too increase from pain to white coat to diet and ability desire for exercise (pain the good the bad and the ...pain). Colonelproron Billion Xavier |

I have been on zestril/ lisonopril for many many years and have been on the same dose 20 mg all that time. When I started I was very tired but that got some better. Other BP meds gave me the dry cough but lisonopril does not but I never thought about the weak legs as I have restless legs and problems with my knees and legs being weak and easily causing injury when I exercise..... my doc looked into whether it was lipitor related and ruled that out.... hmmmm I also take Toprol since I had a heart attack back in 02..... I know I am more tired all the time from those drugs but don't really want another heart attack so I endure. going for stress test next week (just regular part of preventative care) Granny |

I've taken Lisinopril for about 3 yrs. I remember having some coughing and muscle tiredness, but it wasn't consequential. Works on BP too! Diabetes, Phlebitis, Chronic VS ulcers, elevated BP. Doc says take as prophylaxis(preventative against kidney damage). |

Yes, I do take lisinopril. I take 30mg per day instead of 20mg per day. My diabetes docotor did the prescription first and then my regular doctor upped it to 30 mg. It mostly takes care of my blood pressure. Now I do not know what casuses me to throw up food when I have not taken my insulin, and have not drank anything. It seems that my throat area inside swells up somehow, and I am not sure what causes that? If anyone has experienced that, let me know what you think may cause that problem. I notice if I do take my insulin like I should and drink something with food then, I seem not to have that problem. Milt |

I've taken it for between 8 and 10 months, and I'm happy that my BP is down from 160/100 to 125/75. I still have that annoying cough but not as bad; I keep cough syrup beside my bed and peppermints in my purse but only use them a couple of times a week. Didn't know it could cause muscle weakness, but since the diabetes can cause that also I don't know whether my weakness is due to the med or the illness. Was glad to hear that it has kidney-protecting properties, always a good thing for us diabetics! |

Discovered the hard way that I'm HIGHLY allergic to Lisinopril. Started taking it, ran out and had to wait a couple weeks to refill it. When I restarted the Lisinopril within one day I broke out from head to toe in huge, itchy hives that lasted for 3 weeks after stopping the Lisinopril. |

Lisinopril - I took it for 2 weeks....I had diarrhea and stomach cramps - 2 hours after taking it everyday for 2 weeks. My body never adjusted. Hubby takes it and has no problems. Has been on it for a couple of years. |
