I am a 33 yr old mother of two, and another on the way. My third baby girl is due in Sept. I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes with my second pregnancy, and it developed into type 2 diabetes after she was born.
For exactly a year now I have been dealing with this new complication, and I think I am on top of things. I have lost 70lbs and even though I am pregnant I continue to loose (dr said that is fine). The baby is healthy and happy (judging by all the kicking and flipping going on). I take metformin 2x a day right now. But I will probably be taken off all meds after the baby is born (my sugars are normal now). So anyway, just thought I would introduce myself. Nice to be amoungst friends.

Welcome to the group, Stephanie!  How are you handling your diabetes?  You must be very busy with two liitle ones and another on the way!  It is great that you are able to lose weight while pregnant! That way, you'll have a head start after you give birth.  May I ask when you are due?  Do you know if it's a boy or girl?  (nosey, aren't I?)  New babies get us all a buzz around here...you may have seen some earlier posts about a new baby...very exciting stuff!  We are happy to welcome you to our family!  Hope to get to know you better from your posts!  sheryl

Welcome to the group.  I had my son almost 1 year ago.  Wow, time has flown by.  I'm a type 1 diabetic.  Wishing you the best with your new addition coming.  Please keep us updated with any baby news.

Hi,

I am Lylah, I had gestational diabetes with both of my most recent pregnancies. I am now pre-diabetic and the docs are watching me real close. Both of my parents are type 2 diabetics.

I lost a lot of weight with my last baby too and my baby was fine.

Good to meet you, this is a very wonderful group.

Lylah

Well, I am due September 17th, and its another girl! My oldest, Alyssa, isn't too happy about the due date, as her 8th birthday is Sept. 28th. But I assured her that I will be done and out of the hospital well before her birthday. I told her that with the diabetes they can't let you go over, so no fears. She is still a little perturbed. heheh
We are going to name her Brigit Lee. I have Alyssa, and Caitlyn and now Brigit, so I hae the abc's hehehehe.
I have lost about 12 lbs during the pregnancy, and I am 6 months. The baby seems to be handling everything well, as she looked perfect in the ultrasound.
I think I answered the questions that were asked, if not, ask again (pregnancy makes me forgetful) heheh.
Thank you all for your interest, I am glad to be here and share with everyone.
Have a great day!
Steff

Hi there.
I have type 1, 11 years now, I had 3 boys, the oldest is now 5, my second is 2 and a half, and my 3rd is a mere 5 weeks old.
Dont worry about the birthday thing, my oldest got over it, my youngest was born may 3rd, and Dylans birthday (my 5 year old) is May 4th. Itll be fun, and cheaper when they get older and you can have both parties together.
