I know it varies from person to person, but what is the longest honeymoon period anyone has heard of? Melanie, are you a type 1 or a type 2? I guess I'm just shocked that a honeymoon period could last 2 years. And a little jealous. I didn't have a honeymoon period at all. I literally went from healthy to an extremely fast decline in health and although they waited about 3 or 4 weeks to actually put me on insulin I should have been started on it right away and when all tests came back the doctors were absolutely shocked I wasn't in a coma as my levels were averaging 1100 at that point! Mind you, by this point I was having extreme difficulty staying awake, but I was (just barely) managing. My A1c was waaaaaay off the charts, they estimated around 19! Anyway, I wish I would have had a honeymoon period because it might have been a lot better for me and easier to accept if I could have eased myself into the insulin injections and learning about the disease.
