Hello Everyone. I have been diabetic for almost 15 years. I just had a beautiful baby girl 8 months ago. She is absolutely amazing. Anyway...I am looking for other diabetic mothers out there that used artificial sweeteners while pregnant. I did, and then afterwards heard that it can cause cancer.
Now I am worried I did something that could potentially hurt my child. I am looking for reassurance if anyone has any. Anyone out there with beautiful healthy children that used artificial sweeteners??

I used them all the time.  All the diet sodas use them and I would put them in cereal (when I could eat it) and in my lattes.  I think the cancer thing with artificial sweeteners only occurs if you eat a large volume of it daily.  I think it was like 80 packets a day or something.  I wouldn't worry about it.

Yeah. I think you're right. I guess I just let myself believe everything I hear. There is all kinds of dos and don'ts when you're pregnant. It is really, really hard staying off any artificial sweeteners when you're diabetic. People have said "oh you shouldn't eat that stuff"...what else am I supposed to do???? It's in jello, pudding, pop, juice, kool aid, any desert I make...it's crazy!! Just like sugar would have been I guess. I use alot of splenda now...tastes alot better to me. Equal had a bit of an aftertaste.
