Hi my name is Ginnie. I lurk around here a good bit. I have a husband with Type one Diabetes. He was diagnosed when he was four years old he is now 32. He does not want to take very good care of himself. He goes through good phases and bad phases. I don't ever know how to support him. He tends to get upset when I try. He thinks I am nagging him or trying to tell him what to do. We have a ten month old son, and I want my husband to stay as healthy as he can. He has a hard time getting tight control and carb counting. I am looking for good carb counting sites. I just wanted to see if anyone had great ideas on how to support without being a nag. Thanks Ginnie |

Hi Gennie, you really can't help your husband..he has to help himself.Telling/asking him if he checked his sugars , you should eat that.. will only make him mad and resentful. So all you can really do is try to repair food that he should eat and keep only foods that he can eat in the cabnets and refrigator. It's up to him. Gennie It's tough being a spouce of a diabetic , thats for sure. Any time you need to talk we are here , we will help support you as much as we can. Bless you both. Maryb |
