What do you think we should do to cut down on prison costs?
One incarcinated needs to pay his debt to society but perhaps some of the laws could be changed for certain crimes that aren't life threatening so they aren't in as long or don't go in at all costing the tax payers.
Alot of the expense to have one in prison starts with the prison itself and how many the state has. The prisoners have personal needs on a daily basis such as food, utilities, laundry, medical, personal products for hygiene, things that can't be taken away. Some places make them earn the items, etc.
