We have always called this a Mexican Broom but would like to get some more and need to know the common name or the scientific name.

The flower looks like it is almost a sweetpea and the fragrance is wonderful.  After it flowers it puts out a bean type pod.  When the pod matures, it turns brown and starts twisting and then explodes, scattering its seeds.  The leaves are elongated thin leaves.

Do not know if it is the same flower, but here is info re:  Mexican Broom that grows in AZ

Family: Compositae (Asteracae), Sunflower Family
Perennial
Blooms in Summer
Habitat Preferred: Ubiquitous in Verde Valley Area
Photo taken at: Cottonwood, 9/99
Bloom Color: White
Other Common Names: Rosin Bush, Mexican Broom
Origin: Native
Comments: An extremely common plant throughout the valley - has medicinal uses, such as chewing the leaves to help toothaches. The plant is dioecious, meaning the pistillate (female) flowers and the staminate (male) flowers are on separate plants. The male plants have sterile female parts in their flower.
