Welcome 19260! I would love to have some kind of name to tag you with though instead of a number (if you have a nickname you would like to give us)! I, too, am brand new. I am so sorry that you have lost friends to death and moving around. It is hard to be alone & feel sad in your aloness. Please keep coming to the group and we will learn about it together! |

hi tarynrose, you can call me terry instead of 19260 sound more personal doesn't it. yes people come and go in your life. where i live use to be such an active place with the club house and swimming pool, now all the old times have died off and younger people moving in and they just aren't interested in playing cards and going swiming, or getting active in the club house, so things are just going down hill. I like this group to just be able to take to different women.

Hi Terry, Nice to hear from you. It's always hard when life changes around us...and I think the older we get the less we are remembered by those younger than us. Hopefully, you will find many new friends here and be able to also find some among the new people there. Have a great night! TarynRose (Diana) |

Theresa- I'm glad to see you posting. I know things change over time, thats for sure. Its to bad others aren't interested in doing things anymore. Is there any places close to you, like a Seniors Club where they play cards, etc once or twice a week? |

yes there's a senior club where they play cards, but i can't leave my husband for hours at a time. because don't know what he will get into. I love to play cards on the internet yahoo.com I will spend some time playing cards and still be home. I go to the gym lifestyle and use the swimming pool and I leave my husband at the mall and he will walk and watch people for about a hour while I"m at the gym and them pick him up. I don't have any family around my son lives near me and comes over every morning but i can't ask him to take care of his father while I go out. I do go out with my grilfriend on wednesday for 2 hours for lunch, I enjoy that time for my self.

We live in a gated community and it is not a "retirement" community, but we did notice that the majority of the perks that are available are used primarily by the retired crowd. Too bad the youngsters don't understand the importance of doing things besides watching t.v. I hope you enjoy this group. They are a great bunch of women. What games do you play on Yahoo? I too play on there occasionally. I love to play canasta. Anyway, it's good to have you aboard. Yenna |

Hi Terry, welcome to the group, I'm brand new myself! Being a caregiver can take its toll on a person unless you get some help. My youngest son has CP and lives at home but he goes to a day program from 9AM-3PM and I have a couple of care givers who come and stay with him if my husband and I want to go out in the evening, it sounds like you get very little relief. I play bridge online, haven't had time for the other games! Nikki |

Welcome...you'll make many new friends here and there's always ((( hugs ))) when one needs one. We live in a gated community also and love it...I go to the exercise class each morning and then water aerobics. I understand being a caregiver and how it takes a special person...my Father-in-Law was the caretaker for my hubby's mom for a number of years. We helped as much as possible...but know it was very hard on him at times. Hugs! |

hi nickki thanks for the welcome, I have no family here they are all gone. I have a son that lives close to me and comes over everday. he's a great help to me, don't know what i would do without him around. wednesdays is my day for two hours I go out to lunch with my girl friend and my husbands stays home by himself. he sleeps most of the time. so far he has been very good about not getting into things. I go to the gym [lifestyle] for about an hour to swim and just swim 20 min in the water and shower. I leave him at the mall which he likes to walk and them sit on the bench and wait for me to pick him up. just gives me some time to myself. life gets hard, doesn't get any easier. but thanks for asking.

I'm glad your son is nearby and helps out. It sounds like you have a nice schedule in getting out. May I ask why you are concerned with your husband "getting into things" when you aren't around. Is this a health issue concern? |

hi angebear when i mention my husband getting into things, i ment that i don't want him putting something on the stove to cook and then falling aslept and forgeting about it. one time he put some eggs on to hard boil and he fell asleep, the pan started to burn when i smelled it and took it off the stove. he hasn't done that for a long time. I told him i don't want you putting anything on the stove to cook. i have frozen dinner for him in the freezer to put in the microwave and he can do that but not put anything on the burners on the stove. he has been good about that and usually sleeps till i get back.
