My family recipe uses "Irish Mist" instead of Irish Whiskey - it's an irish whiskey liquor and makes for a smoother taste and you can then eliminate the sugar.  If I don't have any Irish Mist on hand, my favourite whiskey is "Black Bush"

"My" version *L*

Irish Whiskey
Creme de Cacao (dark)
strong coffee
whipped cream
Creme de Menthe

In a coffee mug add 1 shot Irish Whiskey, 1 shot dark Creme de Cacao,  and fresh strong coffee. Fill the mug to within half an inch or so of the top, then top with whipped cream and drizzle a little Creme de Menthe over it. Enjoy!

I use Irish Creme instead of Creme de Cocao otherwise our recipe is the same.  I drink a lot of  Irish coffee when it is chilly...every now and then find myself rather tipsy...but I am home so what the hay....makes you warm on a cold damp night.  Teddie
