The Dreamer
I had a dream
that I was drowning
in water and in terror.
Hands that aren't there hold me down.
Pressing against me while I drown.
I struggle hard, fighting death,
Fight the water and hold my breath.
Holding close the precious air,
While I drown in dark despair.
Trapped below a frozen lake.
The current pulls, the water teams,
There is no one to hear my screams.
I watch the bubbles drift away
And know that I will die today.
Empty I can fight no more.
My limp body drifts towards shore.
I break the surface
and there is nothing.
I wake up to find
nothing has changed.
