Welcome
A lopsided grin, more akin to twisted sin, but twirl again always within
The closest bin, which offers peace-refuge from the raging beast
For now at least you hold its leash, seeing freedom in your reach
A chance to teach the beast to cease let it run along the beach
Far from those it longs to eat, let it commit evil deeds; be ever ready
To sow the seeds, the seeds you need to be freed, to be complete;
or attempt retreat, try and beat the scorching heat, the heat that
bakes the food you eat, igniting the fuel that lets you "be".
Then strain to see, so plan to see, the churning future looms ahead,
tainted red, inside your head, hinting at a bitter end.
But try you must, your cause is just, right and true, shiny and new
like the crisp morning dew, through and through, all you can do
to secure the glue that holds the clue, find your final cue, cue to choose,
cue to bruise or simply lose and pay your dues.
The price is high every time, still you climb as you see it rise
in the dark of night, so you might hold on tight, to see the light
and make things right or attack on sight, that which brings fright
and starts the fight, invites the bite which poisons life;
to shed some light, one last time upon this rhyme and make it shine
inside your mind as church bells chime, ringing out, raising doubt
so you shout out loud to quell the crowd who have allowed
you to fall down, down and down, a screeching sound
meets you there along the stairs that take you there! Dare to face
the fiend you fear, so prone to crone or scream in your ear
so pull your hair and prepare for despair, it may not be fair,
but little he cares, just remains there.
High atop a throne hi sits, underground within a fiery pit
he spits the fire, blows and blows, fuels the flames that are his own
damned to live as a drone, as if thrown from a stolen poem,
doomed to roam in madness, all your own...Welcome friend, welcome home.
