The mournful cries rise in the night, We are seeking...
Wolves song greets the Moon so bright, We are brave and wise....
Sleek, muscled bodies beneath the Moon, We help turn the wheel of death and rebirth...
By our Magick we send a boon, Of true dreaming...

(from "Animal Magick" by

>Superstitions

?   In Britain it was believed that if a wolf saw a man before he saw the wolf, the man would be struck dumb and could not cry out for help. If the man sees the wolf first, the wolf loses his ferocity and can't run away.
?   In many parts of Europe they believe that if you say the word "Wolf" in December you will be attacked by one.
?   The French, at one time, hung a wolf's tooth around a child's neck to protect it from evil spirits.
?   Wolves give birth only in May and during thunderstorms.
?   Hair taken from a specific area on the rump of a live wolf is an aphrodisiac.
?   The eyes of a wolf will glow in the darkness.

History of the Wolf

?   The Egyptian God Wepwawet was either pictured as a wolf or with a wolf head. A banner bearing his image was carried before the Pharoah in victory processions. However, both the Hindus and followers of the Zoroaster considered the wolf to be evil and a symbol of evil in human nature.
?   Plato and Pausanias both wrote about the wolf cult in Arcadia, the initiates of the cult worshipped Zeus Lycaeus, called themselves Lukoi, and sacrificed and ate wolves. The wolf was also associated with Apollo, (who had a bronze wolf image at Delphi)
?   Among the Celts, wolves were considered to be powerful, but helpful animals. Legend says that Cormac, King of Ireland, was always accompanied by them. The God Cernunnos was pictured with a wolf.
?   Odhinn had two wolves as constant companions in Valhalla. When there was an eclipse it was said that the wolves temporarily swallowed the globe.
?   The Valkyries were sometimes shown riding wolves, in their aspect of soul-collectors. This idea may have survived in the belief during the middle ages that witches in the form of werewolves rode wolves through the night.
?   In pre-Christian Europe the wolf was a popular clan totem. Many clans were accused of turning themselves into wolves at certain times of the year. The reality behind this is that these clans dressed in wolf skins and masks for certain religious rites.
?   Native Americans said that when the wolf howled, he created wind. If he continued to howl, fog came. They considered the Moon it's power ally.

Wolf Magick

?   The Magickal attributes of the Wolf: Cunning, escaping hunters, ability to pass by dangers invisibly, outwitting those who wish you harm, fighting when necessary. Sometimes an Astral wolf will lead you to a Spiritual Teacher. Wisdom, hunting and seeking, magick, dreams, intuition, listening, death and rebirth, transformation. Strong protection. Spiritual guidance in dreams and meditation.

Save the Wolf

?   Wolves have long been mis-understood...at one time wolves were so common and dangerous in Britain that the month of January was set aside for hunting them. January was called Wolfmonat, or Wolf Month. Although wolves were exterminated in England in 1509, they could be found in the mountains of Scotland and Ireland until the beginning of the 18th century.
?   The gray wolf once ranged over the entire western hemisphere, from Central Mexico to the Arctic regions (except in dry desert areas). In Asia it prowled as far south as parts of India. It disappeared from Britain and most of Europe hundreds of years ago.
?   Fortunately today, there are several groups in the US that are devoted to raising and studying wolves with a goal to stop their extinction. There is a large wolf preserve in Washington State that offers guided tours and if you arrange to go there near the Full Moon and just at dusk, you will be treated to a symphony of wolf calls by the entire population. Although, this is something that would be much better and more natural, heard in the wild.
?   Below are a few Wolf Friendly sites which are aiming to help save the Wolf. Please visit them and sign their petitions. Use your Free Speech to speak out about the hunting of wolves. Remember that a wolf is a beautiful, spiritual animal. Not a target for testosterone overloaded men with big guns. And please do what you can to help save the wolf.......

Becoming Free - A reminder of
the principles of life

?   1: Life does not work through indecision. Indecision promotes blocks, confusion and stress. Make a decision and allow life to find movement through you. Trust yourself.
?   2: The 3 C's of life are Courage, Capacity and Commitment. It takes Courage and a commitment to make many of life's decisions, and capacity to follow them through. The 3 C's of a successful relationship are Caring, Consideration and Communication. Communication opens the door between us, consideration allows us to pass through it and our ability to care for each other unites us.
?   3: Truth is not truth out of timing- yet it remains truth. We are the timing to recognize truth.
?   4: The mind recoils from the unknown, so we seek to make everything known, and, thus sage. Imagination is the key to the unknown- positive, uplifting imagination.
?   5: For as long as we search for Our God Self, we deny that we are it. Loving your self reveals your truth.
?   6: Becoming free is not changing yourself into someone you think you should be. Becoming free is falling in love with who you are- right now.
?   7: Imagine a room of pitch dark and a room of bright light connected by a door. When you open the door what happens? Light floods into the dark room, illuminating it. Live accordingly, think thoughts of light.
?   8: F.E.A.R- False Evidence Appearing Real
?   9: Anything of the past that is unresolved is unresolved now. Living NOW resolves the past.
?   10: Life flows from the inside out, never the reverse. Understand this and you cease to be a victim.
?   11: Love responds- fear reacts. Love connects- fear separates. Love uplifts- fear deflates. Love creates- fear destroys.
?   12: There is no such thing as a mistake- only experience. There is no such thing as failure- only people's condemnation. There is no such thing as success- only people's approval. Let life live through you.
?   13: Do not get caught up in modifying your life, allow life to change YOU. Modification is a superficial exterior veneer, change is an inner shift in consciousness.
?   14: Pain is a measure of your resistance to change.
?   15: Decide whether you want to be an onlooker of life or a participant. This is the birthplace of choice.
?   16: You hear with your ears- but you listen with your mind. You look with your eyes- but you see from the heart.
?   17: Consciousness is not contained in your body- you are the consciousness that contains the body. Consciousness draws to itself form through which to express
?   18: Your mind cannot exist in the moment. You cannot think your way into the moment, you can only think your way out of it. This indicates that your mind/intellect cannot set you free. Only your consciousness is aware of NOW. True freedom is a state of consciousness.
?   19: We each live in our own universe, a universe of our making. It is designed to support our beliefs and our focus. Our thoughts are our focus, so observe your thoughts, focus on your blessings, and trust. This is how you become a participant.
?   20: Practise seeing all life around you as an aspect of yourself. In this way you shatter the illusion of separation.
?   21: Your mind does now know the difference between what you do want or what you don't want, it only knows what you focus on. Many people focus on what they don't have, what they are incapable of doing and their sicknesses.
?   22: If you focus on what you do have, it increases. If you focus on what you don't have, you will have even less. If you focus on your capabilities, they grow, if you focus on your health, it improves.
?   23: Your mind does not know the difference between a powerfully imagined reality and a physical happening reality. Why? Because there is no difference.
?   24: You only have a problem if you believe you have a problem.
?   25: Live these principles and you will be practising reality. Practise reality until you overcome the illusion. It is only an illusion that you are not free, now!

Author Unknown....This text was given to me many years ago by a Spiritual counsellor. It had no name on it, but it made such an impact on my life at the time, I wanted to share it with you. If you are, or know of, the original author, please contact me so that I can provide credit.

Two hundred years ago, Wolves were said to have roamed still in plentiful numbers. Though not now. Humainty itself is on the brink of crumbling. Humans group together in ruined cities, few able to travel from place to place outside of the domed sanctuaries. A hidden tale passes in whispers of a Paradise, and reaches the ears of those long forgotten. Wolves are among us, and they seek this place called Paradise. Following the flower maiden Cheza, Kiba, Tsume, Toboe and Hige, supposedly the last of their kind seek to gain entrance to Paradise. And forces of hunters, poachers...soldiers seek to stop them, destroy them. Wolves are among us...though they are not alone.
