I missed it also.
Everything ok, Shari?
Mindy had a meeting today
at the Mall of America with
the big district manager. She asked
if she could drive my car as hers is
a piece of shit and is barely running.
(It gets her to and from work until
she gets a replacement.) I said ok, of
course. I'm glad it's not a freezing
rain or I would be on pins and needles.
She's a young, impatient driver and
has to go straight through Mpls. to
get there. Then, I get to listen to all
of it when she returns. That's part of
my job, I guess, as family matriarch.
I get to listen politely, nod and then
dismiss it all as trivial noise abuse.
Shirley does the same thing when she
comes home...unloads her day on me.
I haven't said anything yet, but
Alec didn't learn his lesson the
last time he got in trouble. He did
it again, and this time was caught
red-handed by his father, in his room.
The first time he was busted when Mindy
tried turning off his cellphone and saw
text messages that made her dig further.
Alec had pot and was smoking it
on the walk between his school and
where he catches his bus home. He
took pictures and everything, so he
was very busted.
This time it was Sat. night and his
Dad walked into his room with the
phone so he could speak with Taylor
when he saw Alec stuff something
fast under his pillow. Scott found a
brass pipe and a lighter. Alec had
tried smoking it in the house, less than
10 feet from his Dad. He had a friend
over who apparently had said that he
would laugh at him when he got busted,
and it wasn't more than a couple minutes
later that it happened. The friend was
taken home and the parents informed, Alec
is in deep doo-doo.
Now...most of you know that I'm an
old smoker of the herb. But...I did not
do it in school and don't believe kids
should be smoking it while their
brains are still developing. It's an adult
choice, in my opinion. I believe in it's
medicinal benefits and have no problem
saying so, but I do not approve of kids
doing it and never will.
I believe Alec may be grounded
until school is out.
Well, that's my family chit.
Just another day.
