Bathroom Basics:

.Bowl brightener: Pour a 1 liter bottle of cola into the bowl, let set for an hour then flush.
.Basic Cleaning of toilet bowl: toss 2 or 3 tablespoons of baking soda around the bowl, scrub and   flush.
.Once a month, before you go to bed, pour half of a 1-lb box of baking soda into the toilet tank. The   next morning, when you flush the toilet, the tank ?and the bowl, too - should be nice and clean.
.Drop a couple of denture- cleansing tablets into the bowl, wait 1 hour for them to stop fizzing, then   start cleaning and flush.
.If after you flush, the water is rising higher than it should, quickly turn on the cold water in the   sink as well as in the bathtub or shower. The cold water coming through the pipes will cause a vacuum   that will suction the water in the toilet down the drain..
.If you have a minor clog and no plunger, try squirting about 2 ounces liquid dish detergent in the   bowl. Give it at least 15 minutes to work its magic and then flush.
.To prevent bath tub rings, add ½ cup of baking soda to the water, also smoothes and softens the skin.
.For Tile and Grout: wet a sponge with distilled white vinegar, use an old tooth brush to scrub and   rinse.
.To prevent mold and mildew- open the bathroom door right after you shower or bathe or use your   exhaust fan.  You can also wipe down the shower walls with a clean dry cloth or towel.  After   stepping out of shower, close the curtain to prevent mold or mildew growing in the folds of the   shower curtain.
.To remove mold and mildew- add one cup of lemon juice, one cup table salt to one gallon of hot   water, wipe area thoroughly and rinse with plain water and dry with a dry cloth.
.Keep a bar of soap unwrapped for a month before you use it.  The air exposed soap will harden and    last longer.
.To fix a clogged drain: Toss 3 alka-seltzer tablets down the drain add 1 cup of distilled white    vinegar, wait 3 minutes and run hot water to flush.
