The condition of eating fecal matter is called coprophagia. It is usually considered a behavior problem, but is probably nutritional. In dogs, the ones fed a well balanced natural diet are less likely to eat their own feces than dogs on commercial pet foods. When owners add mineral rich supplements such as kelp to the food, the habit often disappears. |
